I don't remember watching it much after I was out of high school, but apparently it went into the 80's. It was on one of cable channels today. In the episode I watched today, Laura in all grown up and married to Almanzo. She is a college student and is working in a kitchen to make some extra money. I was surprised the series went on so long. I also found out in the last episode the citizens destroyed Walnut Grove (Where they live) Now, why did they do that?

I shall keep this brief.
It was shown on a Sunday.
The whole family gathered round the telly to watch it.
I never knew Laura got married.
I wouldn't have seen that coming.

Yes, her marriage to Almanzo , and some of their future were among her last books. I believe the last one was Those Happy Golden Years

I stopped watching it when I went away to the Army in 76.
Thankfully only watched it's first two years.
More than enough.
Michael Landon , wow, made me want to regurgitate my dinner

@AmbiePam I am sure it is closer for you then me.I would like to go back to that area though I found the Badlands fascinating. It is weird that SD and Oklahoma are part of the Midwest. They have little in common with most of it

Neat .one time I was in SDak, and her library or homestead was there. We really didn't have time to stop though. I think it was far from the road. It was in DeSmet SD.

It's s good one, but even better were the books. Fascinating tales of pioneers back in the west and the grit they showed.

I was glued to it back in the day
. I do think the earlier episodes with the kid cast appealed to me the most - probably because I was a kid at the time. I only vaguely remember certain things from the show now. Last episode - I think some guy took ownership of the town and the townspeople destroyed it in protest - something like that. I believe there is a backstory in real life as to why it actually got destroyed too.

I didn't read much about it, but it said Michael Landon wanted it destroyed

I remember watching it in 1980 when I was in my final year of high school.
I cannot remember when I stopped watching it.
I know that my husband loves the show and has probably seen all of the episodes, at least one, after they were on the deja vu stations and channels like that.
I never knew it ended on that note.
