Rental Housing Qualifications

Here, in the area that I live in and most places that some relatives and some friends live at rental housing are based on how much you earn and your credit score. One of the qualifications is that you have to earn three times the rent amount! That's insane! That should be capped. People that have low incomes can make it paying their rent and utilities with out making three times the rent amount but cannot qualify to move in to an apartment or rental house. That's not fair! That is why in some places there are a lot of homeless people! Do you know of any places that don't require the three times the rent amount that are in descent area's?

Some of the rental places here also require that your vehicle can't be older than five years old! When I asked why, they said they don't want pieces of junk parked in front of the rental places or it would bring their housing prices down!

@dfollin In the 40 years I've owned vehicles, I've only bought one brand new vehicle. Most of the time I buy nice, older cars and keep them running until they die.

@DaddyEvil Same here. Actually the only new car I had my husband had bought for me. I insisted that we couldn't pay the high payments. He got it and we only had it 5 months till it was repoed!

The rental prices in my city have skyrocketed to astronomical prices. I don't understand how anyone can afford to rent. But on the flip side, housing prices have also skyrocketed and no one can afford a house either. It's crazy that it seems these days no one can afford housing of any type.

I like to goof around and see what it costs in various places and the other day I looked in the Orlando area and saw a house for $45,000 a month! Then I saw where is was at, Golden Oaks of Disney World! LOL! When we were in Florida in 2012 rent was a lot cheaper! Then the pandemic hit! Prices everywhere have gone way up.

@dfollin I would love to win the lottery so I could move to Golden Oaks and go to Disney World every day! Now that would be the good life!

I have not rented in over forty years. I know my niece and her daughter and grand daughter have a decent place but the rent is sky high.

I wish I could buy a home but I don't have the money for it and don't qualify for a loan either.

I'm glad that isn't true here. My family(my daughter and grandson) and I are lucky to have a Section 8 voucher and a three-bedroom apartment. I wish that the area where you live had this Section 8 program.

They used to and we were on it. But even the waiting list is closed now. But all the landlords that I had when I was on it were terrible and the housing program authorities would not help me!

That's why I hate renting cause they have such rules & regulations, I use to live in rented apts & houses & back then they had crazy stuff they expected you to follow & after I got older I made it a point to NEVER rent again ! ! now we have our own place.

We don't have that qualifications in our place. I am renting a house and the owner did not asked me how much I am earning. Perhaps that's one way of knowing if one can afford the rent or establishing the capacity to pay of the tenant.

This is insane, no one could afford to rent here in Europe with the same parameter.
