Catch Up Sunday

Today is a catch up day around here for me.
Somehow I allowed my 6-month booster to take a backseat as I am a month late in getting it done. I looked at my vaccine passport and realized it was due a month ago.
I have an appointment booked for noon to get my 6-month covid booster shot.
Covid no longer makes the front page news, but it is still very much of a concern in our health world, and I like to remain protected. I am playing catch up today on this Sunday.

@LadyDuck You are correct, that does not make any sense, it is an insult to the people and to their health. As soon as you get your vaccine here, you get an updated certificate to your vaccine passport, but I have not received one as of yet. Something was off with the other pharmacy that I went to. That pharmacist is not as good with the job, I felt it when he hit my arm with it and I felt it whenever I rolled on that side during my sleep. It will not last of course, but I had a terrible night's sleep.

I hope there's no problem getting your booster today.
Pretty and I got behind on our eye exams while we didn't have a car. After the holiday, I'll make appointments for exams. We both need new glasses.

I was on a good schedule, October and April, and based on the fact that it takes about 3 weeks to get the vaccine fully into your immune system, I liked those dates as I was not as worried at Christmas time.
We are behind in our eye exams also. It doesn't really matter for me, but I think that my husband needs to get himself in and get his eyes checked.

@Juliaacv We get our boosters when our doctor tells us to get them. I don't remember what months we get them in.
My last eye exam the doctor said I'm starting cataracts but they aren't bad enough to need surgery yet.

@DaddyEvil Here, since the shots and boosters are optional, you have to keep up on when they are needed on your own. It is the same with the flue, RSV and shingles shots, I know that they have all of those for adults.
I do not know if I was ever vaccinated for measles, and we know that is terrible this calendar year. I think that I had a really mild case as a child but am not sure if I am immune or not.

Thank you.
My appointment was for noon, but I just went to the pharmacy and there was a sign on the door that they are closed for unforeseen circumstances. The pharmacist called in sick today.
I called and they explained that to me, as there is someone back there supposedly calling patients.
I will call her back and let her know that I will not attend, if the pharmacist was sick yesterday the area could still be covered with germs.

I got my initial COVID shot and haven't gotten any since. Trying to get a nurse to come to my home is a real job.
Enjoy your catch up.

@Juliaacv ......That's good. I haven't been out in the world, so that helps. I haven't been sick in years. Even before COVID. Knock on wood.

@celticeagle I seem to come down with either a bad cold or pneumonia every year for a cold and every couple of years for pneumonia.

I have just been getting it yearly. Hoping it will still be covered as they are changing the recommendations on it

@Juliaacv Kennedy is wanting to change a lot of things. If he decides it's not needed for healthy age groups then insurance might not be willing to pay for it here

@Juliaacv The RSV shot should be covered here. I'm surprised it's not covered with the type of medical coverage that you have.

From what I read, covid will always be a part of our lives.
We have the choice as to the extent of our how it will affect us personally, by taking the vaccine and boosters or not.
We have a digital immunization record, so everyone needs to check that to maintain their good status of when to get the shot. I goofed and somehow went 1 month later than I should have. It isn't so much a concern now, as it will be in the fall. It always spikes when the children return to school in September and then reaches their parents at home, and my 6 month booster will be nearing the end of its life by then.

Covid is getting active again here. The number of cases increases significantly. One of my friends got infected too.
