I am practising to be a Yank

May 28, 2025 5:56pm CST
I am practising to be a Yank I boughtt some Jim Beam Whiskey To be honest I can see why Americans drink a lot of this stuff - it really is most pleasant. It's from Kentucky like the Fried Chicken so Kentucky is now my favourite state apart.from." drunken" We were in the shops today and I was buying Pyjamas - Yvonne asked which ones I wanted so I said get me the ones " with stars and stripes" I had a row in a shop with a woman who wouldn't accept that she spelled " colour" the wrong way. What is with these limeys including a " U"!!! Just as well there is a U in Count though- or the guy from Monte Cristo would be a right cu Co...

You should give Crown Royal a tasting! It's very smooth and now comes in different flavors. You are sure to find one to suit your liking or just go with the original. And, from Kentucky...that is more southern than northern. So you wouldn't be a Yankee! They talk funny..ha!

@Ineeddentures I've never tasted Pike Creek. I don't even think it is stocked around here. I'll have to look next time we are in the store.

You're clearly embracing your inner Yank with gusto—and a glass of Jim Beam in hand! The stars-and-stripes PJs are a brilliant touch

@Ineeddentures sounds like Yvonne still keeps you on your toes! Age might slow us down a bit, but it clearly hasn’t dulled her spirit

@Ineeddentures Good luck with that! But it might take you AND Yvonne to achieve such a feat.

@JudyEv Yvonne is the Rock on which Jimlosthegreat performs his miracles. Hope that doesn't sound rude. And at my age I hope that doesn't sound implausible

I am not a hard liquor gal. I tried vodka once but only because I thought I was drinking water. It was a bottle of water I was drinking from. Only it turned out to be vodka.

@Ineeddentures I couldn't understand why the water tastes so nasty lol. Spit it out quick. Then smelled the water bottle to see what the heck I just drank. It smelled like vodka.

What a nice surprise to get. I would have loved that. I'm not a Vodka lover but if someone gave me a Vodka and Coke on the rocks I would drink it

@lovebuglena I would say Vodka isn't nasty, just different from Gin lol. I would not have spat it out I would have gleefully swallowed

The question for most Americans is Jim Beam or Jack Daniel's. It's like the Ford vs. Chevy argument when it comes to trucks.

@porwest Why did it take me until I was 64 years old to discover that Scotch as good as it is, is not the easiest to drink.

Well very impressed I am with Jim Beam. It's got a hidden kick which is like a delayed reaction. Nice and sweet. Easy to swallow. Nice with ice

I wonder why most of the U are skipped (colour, favourite, honour... too long to list). American Bourbon had disappeared from the shelves here, I suppose it's the answer to Trump's tariffs. I have found an excellent Canadian bourbon.

@Ineeddentures - Canada makes an excellent Bourbon, but I think they cannot use the mention Bourbon in many countries, often it is called "Rye Whiskey".
