Nervous is when a patrol car is behind you. My nephew turns on the first street to get rid of the patrol car. I told him that makes you look guilty of something when you do that. Nervous is when you see a bunch of young people enter a store. You wonder what they are up to. Which is really sad. How about when you give a speech in front of a bunch of people. That makes you nervous. What if those people start to BOO you.?? Being nervous is normal it is an uneasy feeling.

I do get nervous when I used to drive on a road and saw a police motorcycle underneath a tree near an intersection.

Nervous is living paycheck to paycheck and not knowing if you'll be in the black or red by the end of your payday week.

Yes that would make anyone nervous. Especially if an emergency comes up.

@jstory07 Most people earn a fixed amount of income or recieve a fixed amount of benefits. No one is supposed to live on Social Security alone, but sometimes, that's unavoidable. And sadly, people judge.

In my youth, I was more nervous about sharing the road with cop cars and talking in front of people. But yah, these days we do have to worry about mobs of young folks . . . you kinda get this gut feeling about what could potentially happen . . . sad that these things do sit in the back of our minds.

Far too old to worry about being nervous! I don't do any public speaking anymore, but that was always a bit of wrecker

I would always get nervous giving a speech in front of a group of people. Yes, you're not human if you don't get nervous.

Honestly, I would turn if a cop was behind me too...I just don't like the pressure of being perfect on the road. I don't speed or anything intentionally...but I don't like the stress. I get nervous when people walk behind me, or when too many people are in a space. Being nervous is awful!

I never get nervous over a cop following me. Most of the time they turn off and are not there anymore.

Yes, it is normal. Everyone feels nervous in certain circumstances. I try to calm my nerves by inhaling deeply through my nose and exhaling forcefully through my mouth (discreetly), until I feel relaxed. It always worked, especially when I talk before an audience.

I never gave speeches. I didn't like people staring at me. I'm like your nephew and will turn on the next street to get away from a policeperson that is following me. (All that really does is make it look like you wanted to turn down that street. Cops don't care.)

@jstory07 Musical performances and lecturing rarely make me nervous now. But I have felt nervous in front of people in the past.

I know what you mean about the patrol car behind you scenario. As you know I drive a motorcycle and it seems that motorcycles are pulled.over quite a lot and usually for no valid reason at all. The cops can check from the comfort of their vehicle is everything is legal so why they stop so many of us beats me. Also young people in large numbers anywhere can be quite intimidating particularly because of the high rate of knife crime committed by youth these days here in Scotland. Speaking Infront of people - I am ok with that as I have done quite a lot of it over the years. I think being nervous is a normal feeling and sometimes nervous energy is quite a good thing. When I stand on the first tee when playing golf I am always a bit nervous. No idea why as I have been playing the game for close to 60 years

I get nervous when I have to come home to my apartment at night. There are no lights in the breezeway or porch lights. We can’t change them ourselves because oddly, you need a key. So I turn on my phone light and carefully go up the stairs.

My friend told of the maiden speech he was to deliver. Right at the front was his friend baring his teeth and that put him off for a while. Another told of his experience when he found his driving license had expired. The drive back home proved stressful .
