It Would Be Belated

While we were on our camping trip, we were driving around headed for the Trail of Tears park in Jackson, MO near Cape Girardeu on the 31st, where the camper was dropped, and my wife happened to remind me that May 31st was my nephew's birthday. "Yeah," I told her. "Remind me to send him a Happy Belated Birthday text tomorrow." Larry, my wife's cousin gave me a discerning look. "What? Why not just text him on his birthday?" I gave him a very serious look back and told him, "But then it wouldn't be a BELATED birthday text." He's got a sense of humor similar to mine and so he did at least immediately get the joke. Not that it was particularly ha-ha funny, but it did provide for a good laugh at least.

lol. Not sure. I am sure the wind blew it over. But we have also surmised that our ghost-girl, Annabelle, went outside and knocked it over. I believe that's her in the shadow on the door. lol

@BarBaraPrz Ever since I took that picture I've wondered what exactly that was a shadow of. MAYBE the cherry blossom tree we have out front? Or it was indeed...Annabelle. lol

I only knew a couple of my brothers' birthdays... One brother's birthday is two days after mine. He and I call and sing happy birthday to each other on our birthdays. *shrug* A little screwy but still fun.

@porwest I know that's the case when there were 16 kids.

HAHAHAHAH! You have a point there. Sometimes I also do that, but with a different reason; I do that because I am a bit lazy. Lol!

For me I am not sure if it's laziness or just a terrible memory for things like this. lol

The picture of the fallen penguin is really cute. I do remember my nephew birthday too but probably because his birthday is one day before my wedding anniversary

My nephew's birthday is May 31st and mine is June 1st, so his is easy for me to remember as well. lol

I probably had as many belated birthday wishes as I did actual birthday wishes. Which I don't mind at all, because my birthday was on Friday and I celebrated over the entire weekend.

@porwest That would be funny as hell. They would be thoroughly confused. I was confused just reading your comment. I had to go back and read it twice before I realized what you were saying. lol

I think for the next one I am going to wait until almost a year later. Let's say the person's birthday is May 31st. I'll wish them a belated birthday on the following 30th and then wish them a proper one on the 31st. That ought to confuse the hell out of them. lol

A “happy belated birthday” is better than nothing at all.

I would have understood the joke. Some are very slow to pick up on humour and if you have to explain it, then it's not really funny any more.
