Hello to you, and I hope you are having a good day. I am doing some banking today and putting my excess coins in the coinstar machine. I don't have that many maybe 20.00 dollars worth. I read somewhere that the average American household has something like 60 to 90 dollars in excess coins saved in a jar or whatever. How many do you think you have? What is the most you have ever had?
Also getting an oil change at Walmart, and friend told me to check the fluids after they are done, as they don't always do what they are supposed to. I have read that as well. I know one time I was in the auto center at one and some guy was complaining they put regular oil into a car that took synthetic. Anyway, Hope your day is going well.

We have quite a few coins. I need to go through them and pick out the collectible ones.

The only thing I am collecting now are pennies in pristine condition. You know those are going to be on collectors lists in the coming years.

That's quite a bit. Why don't you put it in an interest bearing account?

@snowy22315 We just never get around to it - and we raid it if we want some cash.

I used to buy half dollar coins from the register when I worked as a salesclerk at a convenience store and saved them in a big coke bottle "piggybank". When I married my first wife and went to buy a new car she made me cash those in to make the down payment on it. I had over $1,000 saved up... After divorcing her, I've saved up around $100 in different coins and bills over the years. (Collectible stuff, like $1 Silver Certificates, state coins from the mint that are worth more than their face value and some old coins that are worth much more than face value.)
When we were having to go to the laundromat, I'd buy $30 in quarters and then stuck what was left in a candle tin. There might be $40 in that. I'm definitely glad the washing machine is fixed now!
Hope you enjoy your day.

@snowy22315 You're welcome.
I hope you both can find a good collector one of these days and get more than face value for the coins and bills in the locker.

I don't have as many coins as I used to since I rarely use cash these days. Plus I gave a lot of my quarters to my grandson for the washing machine and dryer at his college laundry room.
It's sad when you have to double check the work you're paying someone to do. Hope it all goes well with your oil change.

I usually use the coin counter at my bank. It’s free if you have an account. It is never a ton of money, depending how long it’s been since I took them to be counted.
We have never had a good experience getting oil changes done at Walmart. Twice they lied and said the car was done and they didn’t change the oil, once they put in a wrong filter and I went two blocks and lost every drop of oil. This all took place at different Walmart stores. One of my son’s friends worked in a Walmart automotive department, he said they will hire anyone and do not train them at all. A friend had a package in her back seat, that she had picked up on the way to get the oil change. One of the workers took it. She threw a fit at Walmart and magically they called her and said the package had been found. A miracle. Apparently, it walked out of her car all by itself!

Coinstar at the bank still costs 3 Percent, but it is cheaper than those at the grocery store

Our bank has a sign, if you are not a customer you pay a fee. But if you are, it’s free, so I just do that every once in awhile.
