I had never made it before, may not do it again

I had never made chicken fried steak, or country fried steak before from scratch. I will admit to having bought frozen ready to cook, overly processed ones in the past. It is a messy prep if you do it right. I had gotten some tenderized steaks for a very good price at the store last time I shopped. Chicken fried steak is one of Bob's favorite things at a restaurant, so I did it here at home. The flavor was good, my gravy is good that I make, but I likely will stick to the store prepared kind. Even though the pieces were small, the meal was too large for Bob, he will finish it tonight . I will .eat canned salmon tonight. With our chicken fried steaks we had microwave baked potatoes and baked beans. Milk gravy is a go to for this kind of meal. It stormed over night and it looks like we may have more rain today. I hope that that is the end of it for a while. It is really hard for me to decide what I want to get done. I really have too many irons in the fire. I will be back here later.

I haven't had it in years. I don't think I could make it at home.

Your chicken fried steak sounds good. Take one project at a time so you don't get stressed.

In this case it did work, and Bob was glad to have it.

We're heading out shortly but will cut sandwiches for lunch before we go. We cooked a pork roast but it means lots of cold meat to have over the next few days.

Sometimes I end up freezing part of it if I have cooked a lot of meat.

It was pretty messy. It was okay, but I do not crave it. The plus is that there is enough gravy to put with some fried up sausage. I love sausage gravy. I just thawed a roll of sausage.

I made it once and thought it was a waste of steak.

I would say it is a poor man's steak. I only tried it because I got the meat really reduced.
