I had to say No, Thank You

As you know, I often do clinical studies and focus groups as a side hustle. Anyway, There is one company that drives me crazy. They think nothing of wasting 30-40 minutes of your time when they don't even have a study open. I ran into that again this week, when on a Tuesday, they called and wanted to interview me when the study had actually closed on Friday...Say what? Anyway, I politely declined. They have done this too many times. I will only do a screening when there is a study ongoing that I will likely qualify for. Had it with them. I am sure greed is involved!

It isn't really a scam. I have done studies there before. They are getting nothing out of interviewing me...but unless there is something in the pipeline current. It is a waste of time.

It would be different if they actually had something open, but wasting somebody's time when they know they have nothing open is a bad business practice.

Have you had any bad experiences with those trials? I have never made it into one.

Not really..nothing irrevocable. They don't always involve taking a medication.

I do not blame you since you have a right to say no to some requests.

Yeah, you never know one of these days they might come up with a legit study. They have in the past.

It really is. If they call me again, that will be my first question do you actually have a study open?

I did a study with one group a few months ago. They paid well and on time but forced me to "donate" part of the earnings to their choice of charity. I didn't object to the charity but do object to them making me donate money I've earned... If they want to donate their money, then just donate it. Don't take part of my money to donate to your charity! They keep emailing me wanting me to do more studies with them. I ask them to stop contacting me and told them why I wasn't interested.

Prolific does that all the time, but fortunately it is a minor amt. I don't"t mind donating. It was wrong of them to force you to donate without giving you an option.

Good thing you decline. Why would they still interview when the study is closed already??

They don't seem to have much consideration for their participants.
