Goodbye Brightspeed, hello Starlink

Hopefully, anyway! Brightspeed has been our internet provider for years (only because being in a rural area limits our options.) It has been the bane of my existence. Customer service is nonexistent and if you ever do get a live person, their accent is too foreign to understand. I've practically had nervous breakdowns with those people. Our service was out for a week and we were told a tech wouldn't come out until July 1! Can you imagine that? So we're in the process of changing to Starlink. It's more expensive, but hoping it will be worth it. Do you have a good ISP?

Best of luck to you. My friends have got us on AT&T and with my WiFi upstairs there have been no problems,

@1creekgirl - I was concerned when we moved from Switzerland to Italy, but the Internet connection is good.

That is terrible that you have been put off like that. We live in a city and have very fast Bell fiber internet. But when we lived rurally, we still had Bell, but it was just DSL, which ran over the copper phone line. It was fast enough for our needs. High speed internet services is a priority in Ontario.

That's good you have really good internet. Brightspeed is upgrading their lines, but they'll still have garbage customer service.

@Juliaacv Hope so, but delaying tech repair for a whole month? That's outrageous.

We used Suddenlink for years but they recently became Optimum. The service is good as long as they don't accidentally disconnect you. (That's happened once two years ago. A technician was checking cables in our neighborhood and disconnected ours, thinking it wasn't being used and then it took them over a week to hook it back up. They called every day making us run through different things to make sure WE hadn't done something wrong. We kept telling them we thought a technician had unhooked us but they wouldn't send someone out faster than a week.)

@1creekgirl Yes, it was... Pretty used the internet on our phones to do what she HAD to do online and I just watched videos I'd downloaded and movies we own.

I'm so glad you changed providers. We changed from Spectrum to Kinetic/Windstream. I think the internet is slower than it was. I switched because we were paying almost $300 per month for Internet/phone/TV. Now it's closer to $200. Great picture.

That's not too bad a cost for all three. Out TV is $90, phone is $95, and internet will be $120. The photo was in front of the restaurant we ate at on Dale's birthday. Our grandson in law and son in law were taking the photos.

I have been "relatively" happy with my service, but it's not the greatest. I'm probably just too lazy to change it, even though where I live I have many options. It's done "good enough." But I think you will like Starlink. I've heard good things about it. Many full time RVers use it and love it.

@porwest Starlink is better, but $120 verses $45 for Brightspeed. But I guess you get what you pay for. We might be able to switch to Spectrum later.

@1creekgirl I felt the same way after we got rid of cable and switched to YouTube TV. Night and day and much cheaper.

I feel your pain! For years I had crappy internet services due to living in a rural area. Now though I have ae Fiber optic service that is much better! It isn't perfect, but it is a darn sight better than what came before.

When it comes to the internet, it's always been hit or miss for me if I'm being honest. but it is what it is.
