I caught a fllicker from the corner of my eye...

...and I turned to look but it wasn't Scar, it was merely a shadow. And I know it will never be Scar, but I also know for the next few months I'll see flickers that will make me look again even though I know I could not see what is suggested.
But I saw a flicker Friday that was indeed much more than just a shadow. I saw one (Northern Flicker) out hunting bugs towards the end of the driveway in high grass near the light pole but could not manage to get any decent shots until it suddenly rose to fly away.

That little monster has left his fur on your heart forever. Ours, too. The sad, and wonderful, thing about them: when they take over, they take over completely.
The flicker is a pretty bird, by the way.

The Scar is still lingering in your home and yard, making sure that you won't forget HRH too quickly, not that you could. I think that it is special when we have those, it is only immediately after such a huge loss.
I wonder if Emoci and Petey have had similar experiences.
You got a good shot of the bird.

When I lost my first cat a lovely girl Cha-Cha she did come back in shadow form and at times not only did I see her shadow but I also felt her against my legs, When we adopted our next cat Sid she finally saw we were all right and I never saw her shadow again, It could very well be that at times you are being comforted by his shadow,

I still talk to my husband every day. I have no doubt that you see flickers of Scar around. We all miss him.

That's a beautiful bird. I haven't seen one of those up close for years.
Oh, those flickers...after the loss of a beloved pet....I always thought it was just me, imagining things. But I have heard several family members and friends say that the glimpses we sometimes see, at least for a while right after the pet passes, is habit. But I like to think it's the pet we miss...checking to see that we are OK, and reminding us that they are still with us...in spirit.
There. Is that sappy enough for you? Sorry...sometimes, I am just sappy.

I still see kitty ghosts now and then. Birds are cool. I have not seen a flicker here in a while, but it would not surprise me.

That's a cool shot with the wings hanging down like they are.
It will be a long time before you stop thinking you're going to see Scar.

“… And I know it will never be Scar.”
You need to toss that thought out the winda
This universe is like a huge bot. It will only do what you program it to do.
He’ll…….be back.
When the time is right.
When you least expect it. And he might not even be all black.
That’s all I can say for now.

I used to see Felix and Cookie out of the corner of my eyes long after they had gone.
Especially when sitting in the garden.
I knew they were gone but it didn't stop me seeing them
