Well, that was 15 seconds of excitement

I went to a program in this county with some people I know today. Call them casual friends. Anyway, afterwards they wanted to go to a buffet in Charlottesville. I really wasn't keen on the buffet as I didn't want all that food, or pay the money and I had stuff to do here, however, they would have had to go 10 or 15 miles back to their house to drop me off, and then go after that...so they kind of talked me into it. I did just stick to some salad and dessert though which I got a reduced price, although still expensive.
But anyway, it was a storming on and off..and at one point the power went off for about 15 seconds and that was wacky as that place was packed with people. I guess maybe their back up generator kicked back on. Never was in a restaurant when the power went off. I know one time when I lived in another area though there were tornado warnings around the mall, and they wouldn't let anybody out. Another time there was a fire alarm while I was in a movie theater. Ever been somewhere where they lost power?

I love an all you can eat buffet.
Nothing quite like it if the food is good quality.
I am price conscious but usually see the.food just waiting to be put on a plate and forget all about price until it's time to pay.
I have been in a restaurant when the power went out but the gas stayed on and they had gas lights so it was all good.
I just kept eating. And drinking.
It was actually quite good because it seemed to bring people together and one lady started playing footsie with me under the table.
Lucky me

No footsie going on here. it was too short a time for anybody to have much reaction. It would have been more interesting had it been on a bit longer.

@LadyDuck Yeah, that makes more sense, but sometimes hurricanes do have some inland effects, but haven't, heard of any near Vegas, but .who knows?

@snowy22315 - I have never seen so much rain in such a short time. The outside elevators looked like waterfalls. I wrote hurricane, but as a matter of fact it was more a tornado.

It was a little unnerving, but not as much as when we had an fire alarm going off at motel in the middle of the night. It also happened once at a hotel.

Getting ready to come home from Oklahoma City area, stopped at a gas station/C store to fuel qup. I had not tried to put in my card or pump any, but the power went out in that entire mile section. It was across the street from a busy grocery store and the automatic doors would not let people in or out except manually. Lots of frustrated people all over because no point of sale equipment would work at any of the businesses.

Not really. One time I was at work and it had storm the previous night and there was no power to the outlets on the side of where we were working at.

I've been in a house-sit when the smoke alarm went off. There was no smoke or fire anywhere but it was so loud we disconnected it but then had no power so we sat in the dark for a few hours till the son arrived and we got it all sorted.
