The question is, just how much do you actually want this?

I had to go to the pharmacy before the hospital. It's the one connected to the grocery store, so while I waited 15 minutes, I walked through the store to check for bargains, of course. Bargains? Umm...not today.
We all love a bargain, right? Would you pay this amount for ONE skinny little steak? The package and ad both say ''thin cut'' but you could almost see through this steak. Instead of calling it rib eye steak, they need to rename this one, at least at this store--maybe ''paper thin steak'' would be more appropriate.
I will continue to look for bargains as time allows, but they are certainly hard to find!

Hopefully you good find some good bargains. It us tough to find bargains on food items, though we can often find them on clothes, accessories and cosmetics.
I am a vegetarian by choice. So, can't comment on this one. My non veg cooking is limited to cooking chicken and fish for my husband and daughters.

I did the vegetarian thing once for about two years. It was hard and I just couldn’t keep my iron levels up. I do eat mostly chicken and fish, not much red meat.

@MarieCoyle Since I grew up in a vegetarian household, it came to be naturally. Few in the younger generations starred trying chicken and fish and it slowly became part of their diet. I take loads of green veggies and plant protein. I do eat eggs and don't mind trying chicken and fish once in a blue moon. My husband and daughters love chicken and I cook it at least twice in a week. Surprisingly on blood reports, I do pretty well in healthier range compared to others in the family

We rarely have bargains here, which are outright. I usually haggle with the price if it's not a department store. Sometimes, I can get a 50% cut from the original price if I pretend to leave and find other stores.
With small sellers, though, I don't do this because I know that they don't earn much from their merchandise.

@MarieCoyle Some have fixed prices, while some we can haggle.
Have a good week, Marie. I am always praying for you and your son.

There is no haggling on groceries, unfortunately. And no haggling in stores. And you are correct that the small businesses have a much smaller profit margin than the big ones.

I doný like thin skeaks. Now that I eat less, I still buy thick steaks but cut them the other way so that I eat a small THICK steak.

@MarieCoyle Me too. Years ago I ate a big thick steat. Now I eat small ones. But still thick and medium rare.

I just had to check it out when I saw that sign. I thought, OH, a mistake. But it wasn't. Unbelievable. Who in their right mind would spend that much money on that tiny piece of poor quality beef?

I am constantly amazed that people will actually pay as much for things as they do. I can understand some of it, but not all...I know we all need treats once in a while, I get that. But to pay prices like this is just...stupid.

And the meat looks fatty to boot!
There is a big difference between marbling with a bit of fat and this large amount of it.
We buy our organic beef by the hind quarter, it saves us money and is always the same flavour and consistency. When I order it I am asked what thickness for steaks I would like, how many to a package and so on. I also choose the size of the roasts and the weight of the individual packages of stewing beef and ground beef. I do not like to waste.

I hate waste. I know steaks need some marbling, yes. But not chunks of fat. I don't honestly know anyone, whether they have money or not, that would pay this price for a thin steak that is no doubt fatty and tough. Just a big nope from me!

No, I would not buy that bargain. Like you, when in the store I go to the places they have the bargains, all segregated and lonesome, just waiting for me to pick them up.

Yes, most stores have a discontinued isle, or ''bargains'' a person just has to be careful to check and be sure they really are bargains!

I haven't had steak in years. That's highway robbery.
I recently watched a doc about how meat is handled in grocery stores. It was sickening. Yes, nowadays food bargains are certainly hard to find.

You really notice price hikes when it's something you buy often, and it goes up in price every time you buy it!

Roasts are ridiculously priced here. I wish they weren't...but that's how it is. Supposedly our red meat supply will get more and more expensive, unfortunately.

Online grocery shopping and getting it delivered or picking it up has way better bargains.

@MarieCoyle What grocery store is that? We do 90 percent of our grocery shopping at Walmart. And I have had to learn how to check the deals. So I find them all.

@thislittlepennyearns I hit Aldi and/or Rulers on a regular basis. This is called County Market. It is a chain grocery in Illinois and I think Indiana. The only thing I usually ever buy there is milk if we run low and I can’t get to Aldi. Sometimes, they will have a good loss leader or two, but that’s about it.

Once in a blue moon this particular grocery store has bargains on meats but not often. But I always check the prices if I’m there. It’s hooked to the pharmacy we use the most often.

It seems that we are all looking for good buys on proteins lately. We do some meatless meals and get creative, too.
