Russia and Ukraine...once an integral part.
India and Bangladesh........the older sister role.
Iran and Israel...........friends turned foes...
Of these, the last two I should essentially blame fanaticism. Israel and Iran would have continued to be friends had the Pahlavi dynasty continued to rule. That..was the most glorious period for Iran. Then fanaticism surfaced.
Same with Bangladesh. Part of that fanaticism came from Hindus too.
Wishing everybody peace...this moment.

Things just happen, I guess... Just like it families. Everything is peaceful and then someone says something someone else doesn't like and war is called.

But aren't we going through this from the day Ukraine Russia war started. It kinda gave sanctity to Israel to take an action. If the world is silent on Ukraine Russia issue, it will shut up if I attack Gaza, use the excuse of that musical festival. After all, who knows about International Court of Justice verdict against Israel? This is what happens if the proper channels are followed and the powerful do not adhere to the defined procedures.

I hurt every time a war starts. It is easy for safe leaders to brag. They not only get hefty salaries for being stupid, they also get security. It is the average person who has no control over their actions who pays the price.
In Israel's case, my knowledge is based on information incorporated in brief in ICJ's verdict. Losing the case should have led to compliance with the verdict, not defiance. Israel's defiance is the sole reason for subsequent developments, which the world saw, but is not aware of Israel not obeying ICJ's verdict. What recourse would Palestinians then have? I think I would also be behaving the same way.
Why my kids have to vacate ancestral lands, and lose their properties and wealth, while others get to enjoy it? That is being high handed just because that person has the power.
Following the path of justice is the path for peace. Eating humble pie did not suit the wrong doer for political popularity.

India and Pakastan. The United States and the United States.
I think we really over [populated and also people know they have to make a certain amount of money or you pretty much outcasts in this world. Everyone trying to get an advantage. Religion is the next part, that is for sure so we can make everyone like minded.

And to think religion was supposed to bring down conflicts. Nobody asks ..is there anything in Koran which tells Moslems go kill Christians and Hindus? How can Christians and Hindus be infidels when the book itself prohibits forcible conversions? Nobody willing to argue on those lines.

@crossbones27 Another reason Muslims are hated is their book tells them to remember Allah is the only god ...and Allah is powerful.
The reason such words were included were
a. To remind people not to follow demi gods and cheats
b. To remember that the worst would pass because god can correct even that situation
But when the book was written, it addressed only Muslims. When Muslims use those lines in front of others, people infer it as an insult to their faith and their gods.
Even in Muslim scriptures there is mention of Jesus of Nazareth and Mother Mary (Mariam). But why would the prophet not ask people to kill Jesus and his followers in the book? It obviously means the religion was meant to be tolerant. When it became fanatic god alone knows.

@vandana7 That's a very good point. I notice atheists battle all of them online, but the religions never battle each other. At least they silly like me I guess. What a way to mess up whole world though.

The problem Iran has had for the last 45 years or so is the fanaticism that seems to be rearing its ugly head in America as well.
Praying for peace, indeed!

It feels strange that mind was not asking for success in day's tasks to god in everyday prayers, rather ..praying for all innocents at both sides of the fence.
How fragile we are ...in our thinking ...and maintaining the world. We forget, we haven't another world to send our children to.

Hang on.
Russia v Ukraine has really been ongoing since 2014
And before that it wasn't exactly hearts and flowers.
Iran and Israel.
Well Israel has only been around for about i0 years.
And I can tell you there was no love lost there either for much of that 80 years

While it was not hearts and flowers, in the erstwhile USSR, of which the Ukraine was an integral part, Ukrainians identified with Russia as their country.
Iran was the only nation that stood by Israel while rest of the Arab world did not. At least that is the literature I have come across.
Shah of Iran was not against Israel. The issues came up against Israel during Ayotollah Khomeini regime.
Even so, I think the world went wrong in deciding the fate of Israel and Palestine, just like it did a shoddy job of India Pakistan issue.
The issues should reach the UN table, and more permanent solution should be sought...with fairness towards one and all.

@Ineeddentures 2014 seems rather recent. Yes, to that Kalashnikov too. Its history prior to USSR has not been of unity and strife free region. So, perhaps soviet union helped it to get its act together.

"While it was not hearts and flowers, in the erstwhile USSR, of which the Ukraine was an integral part, Ukrainians identified with Russia as their country."
When?
Before Russia annexed Crimea in 2014?
Oh yes there was a referendum on the issue which came out in favour of Russia, but how would you vote as a Ukrainian with a Russian Kalashnikov pointed at your head
Since then,
Nah, Ukrainians in general have never really identified as Russian.

Man will never solve the idea of war. There will always be conflict. That's so sad.
