How I spent Fathers Day 2025

My little one woke up at 7 and I brought her in my bed. She laid around kicking and crying for about an hour. She gets like that sometimes when she wakes up and there isn’t any comforting her. In her sleep she had cried that her brother took her toys. I guess that dream lingered and made her grumpy. Her father took her to the game lands to run the dogs. She wanted me to go but I can’t get ready to leave the house in 10 minutes like he does. I’m so groggy for a few hours after I wake up. I cleaned while they were gone and ran to the store. I saw a package on my porch. It was delivered to the wrong address. I looked on Facebook to see if I could message the person to let them know but they weren’t on facebook. I typed the address into my gps and saw while nothing like my address it was only a 1/2 mile away. I drove down and got lucky and the old woman was there and slowly made her way to the door where I told her the mix up. I was getting really worried about how long my husband was gone with our daughter. I started really cleaning hard which I do when stressed etc. They finally got home around 3:30 after having left at 8am. The beagle pups had taken off and gotten lost so they had a lot of looking to do to find them. Miles and miles hiking and him carrying her on his shoulders and her having to walk when he couldn’t do it anymore. About 5 we went to his parents house and gave his father the gift I found him at an antique store which you can see in the photo. We were there for about an hour and a half. We then went to my parents house and then they came to my house to have an ice cream cake I made for my husband. I used a brownie layer, chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, crushed Oreos, and homemade whipped cream. It turned out really good.

Wow! I'm sure the cake was delicious! I'm glad your hubby took your daughter out with him... It gave them time together and you didn't have to worry about them. Dogs always run off and get lost... You should figure that into the time whenever he takes them out.

@Daddyevil I don’t think he should take her out anymore alone with the puppies. This is twice they’ve run off. Hours of making her walk and hours having to carry her on his shoulders was too much for both of them. Having to go up and down cliffs and extremely steep hills. There’s no cell service out there and being miles deep into the woods isn’t the best idea. It’s why I don’t do it alone with her either. You know the health conditions they have correct it makes me extra nervous about if something happens. I think without that I wouldn’t worry quite as much when they are gone way longer then expected.

@shaggin Unfortunately, he's an adult and her dad so he gets to decide some things, no matter what you want... I'm sorry, but it's true. I'm sorry it worried you but he's survived with the problems for years without anything bad happening. I'm sure she will, too. You could ask him to stay in areas with cell service when they're out.

@shaggin Does he ever tell you we should be back by whatever time? I think I'd ask him to guesstimate a time so I'd know when to start worrying. Asking him where they're going would also help... It would give rescue services a place to start looking if anything did happen. Pretty worries about me going out in the yard by myself since my balance is bad now. But, sometimes she's asleep when I go out and she doesn't wake up to me yelling in the yard. The older couple would notice if I've fallen in the back yard, I think. But I always carry my phone so I can call for help, too.

Yum, everybody loves ice cream cake. I don't know what to tell you about dad and little one. It sounds dangerous..but it is probably his idea of "quality time."

@snowy22315 she loves going with him and he loves taking her. It is good for them it’s just not a good idea going out alone with her and the puppies at this point I don’t think. If he gave me like a half hour I would when went but he won’t wait. He had probably been waiting two hours for her to wake up as it was so he just wanted to go. We all enjoyed the ice cream cake. I winged it and it turned out great.

I would have been worried too and try to get him on the phone. All is well that ends well.

@Kandae11 I knew that pretty much anywhere he would have gone I would not have been able to reach him on the phone. Very few spots he goes to run the dogs has cell coverage.
