Today, it is all over the news, that the government has approved the Canada Strong Pass.
Now what is that you ask?
That is free admission to all national galleries, museums and parks. That is great because it begins on the 20th of this month and runs until Sept 2nd, which is Labour Day Weekend.
Hurray for giving us a break so that we can vacation and get out at a price that we can all afford-FREE.
Last summer we visited 3 museums while we vacationed in the northern part of the province. That would have really made a difference in our holiday budget. I am sure that will affect many families this summer, and when times are so difficult, it will really help those going camping or to museums or galleries.
Just in time for the start to summer holidays, as the children will be out of school in a couple of weeks.

Well done Canada.
Sounds like sensible Governance to me.
Scotland needs to try something like this but they won't.

Our stupid government has the chance to create a new National Park in the South West of Scotland but are dithering over a resort companies application to have a resort on it
It would create hundreds of jobs and be worth tens of millions every year to the economy
But they are worried about increased traffic on one road!!
Well the government are not worried but the NIMBY naysayers are using it as an excuse

That's nice of the government. I would love to get back to British Columbia. It is so lovely there. Enjoy your FREEdom.

@Juliaacv........ that is so nice. Our tourist trade is going to be way down for at least the next four years thanks to you know who. I'm also rather sure he won't be giving us any perks.

@celticeagle I actually think that he may have something to do with this. Most Canadians are vacationing here or going abroad. For those staying in the country, it is a bonus.

Thanks.
I feel like it was the right move to make in light of the fact that everything is going up in price and families do need a break, and enjoying a park or gallery or a museum would be wonderful. Even Via Rail is offering reductions for children's tickets.

It is an inspiring news and measure to stimulate the economy ! I have learnt that young people under 18 can get free ride via railway train when they travelling with their parents.

We had something like that for the last few years in Kansas, but you need to have a school aged kid in your household. I hear it got scaled back this year but it sounded like so much fun.

We may all go together to a national park.
There is not a zoo in our region.
They love going to the children's museum, but it is not a federal museum, but a local one, so the admission price still exists. Their parents take them frequently to that place since they love it so much.

That's a great perk. It should generate $ for the gift shops, etc.

It will generate money for the communities closest to those places as people will stop to stock up on items they will need for camping, and for the museums and galleries, it will allow gift shops to generate more revenue.
It is a good move when everything seems to costly.

That is a very great offer. At least more people could take that advantage and make a move towards the desired places at relatively cheaper prices.

If he likes to camp or visit galleries or museums, then he will be able to take advantage of it.
Even Via Rail is on board with discounts for those 18 and under.
That is great value, we plan on taking a railway tour out to the east coast in a few more years, and it is very costly.
