Number of posts. Are you even aware?

One of the little-noticed features on MyLot is the number of posts that is displayed next to our name. I think it is a very handy feature and we can get to know who is active and how much active. Initially, I didn't notice that. But I don't know when I started. It's fun at times to see how we are progressing. What's your take on MyLot posts?

What it is displayed next to our name is the number of "actions" not the number of posts.

Thanks Anna. But can you throw some more light on this? I mean on "actions". When we write a comment, reply, or start a discussion, only then that number increments by one. Right?

@abhi_bangal Correct, and when people delete posts where we left comments, the number decreases. Mine dropped a lot after a few members left and closed their accounts. I was close to 500000.

I come here everyday, but I'm not satisfied with my performance on mylot So far I have started 277 discussions here, but only a few of them have recieved more than five responses.

@Shivram59 Oh you own a store? Good! So, that seems to be the main source of earning for you. If that's true then that's but natural that you would devote more time for your store. Because there are so many people here who are active here. But their main source of earning is something else. Oh wow... 42 responses... I have never seen so many responses even for those who have more following and who seem to be active on a daily basis. 42 responses means a total of 42 including comments and responses or pure 42 replies? I'm sorry to hear about your sister. It's a hard time. But I'm sure being active here would have given you some relief.

"I come here everyday, but I'm not satisfied with my performance". Mate, you have a good 42,500+ posts here in 8 years. I have been here more than twice your period. But I have only about 1/7th of your posts. So who is more active and who has better performance? Compared to your discussions, yes, I have started more discussions than you. And quite a few of them have crossed the 5-response mark that you're talking about. This one is the best one for me with 12 responses. By the way, I know one thing that I'm going steady.

@abhi_bangal Thank you. Actually I want to be more active here, but I lack time. The major part of my time is spent managing my store. The rest that I get at night goes in studying Sanskrit. The maximum number of responses I have recieved is perhaps 42. Two or three years ago I had started a discussion and by the next day I recieved 42 responses. Thereafter I ceased to be active My younger sister suddenly expired. It was a tough time for my family. Still I'm trying to do better.

I think you are talking about the computer/laptop procedure to check the number of posts. Because there's no dropdown menu in Android phone. Anyway, I got the page where we can check the details you mentioned.

@rakski Yes yes. I was already aware of that page. I had even told @LindaOHio that she had 3,230 discussions and 96,700 responses. Hahaha... That was fun talking with her about that.

Yeah see the magic. We don't even pay attention to such activities. But it's good to check in a while. By the way, you have started 3,230 discussions and 96,700 responses. That's quite remarkable.

@LindaOHio Yeah. I've also been a member for almost 17 years now. Compared to that, my number of posts look too miniature. However, I'm active here for the past few weeks. That has at least pushed my number beyond the 6000 mark.

It's not the number of posts, but rather the number of comments or responses we have made. It is a good gauge of who is most active around here, though.

When I said "posts" I didn't really mean that only. But three things - the comments, the responses, and the discussions that we start. Yes, it's a gauge of our activeness. But as @LadyDuck Anna said, if anyone deletes any discussion, our contribution too comes down. So, can it be a correct gauge? Also, my number shows 6000+ (I touched 6000 just today only). I have been a member here for almost 17 years now. Yes, I wasn't active here for a few years in between. But the duration since becoming a member and the number of posts, don't really do any justice. I mean who knows those discussions might have got deleted where I might have posted something and my number has decreased.

@porwest Yeah. I've realized that. You are more active with some thoughts and inputs. That's lovely.

@abhi_bangal Ultimately what I look at more than anything is who is most active with ME personally. I tend to spend more time with them.

Exactly. I just recently started noticing the number of posts. And I also saw the number of posts of other fellow MyLotters. It's fun actually. We can compete with only ourselves.

I joined Mylot long time ago. Sometimes I am active here. Although I don't pay attention to the number of my posts, but I think it can be a lot

Yes a lot indeed. You have crossed the 100,000 mark already. Looks like you have joined around 18 years ago. I think we are speaking for the first time. It's good to communicate with new people and make friends.

@youless "Probably we posted to each other's discussions before". Mate, I am not aware of what you have said. But yes we can find out if we have responded to each others discussions in the past or not. But whatever be the case we have kind of rejoined to talk about common interests. I hope to see you more often here

Sometimes, it can be fun to watch the numbers. They indicate how active one has been. Yet finer details like how many new posts one posted, how many responses, comments etc. are not very clear from these figures.

@abhi_bangal I mainly try to be more active in discussions that interest me, even if overall, lesser number of people are active in that. Earnings used to be faster prior to early 2023, but Mylot still is a good site if one wants something fun & casual.

Why not? You can get more details easily. You have 1636 discussions and 11,441 responses so far with 34,943 comments. There are 24,839 mentions and 1,24,781 likes. You have 406 followers and 303 following. What more details do you want It's definitely fun to watch these numbers. And I'm sure because now you know them, you'll find it all the more interesting.

I think some of the active users are not posting anything much, but are very active in interacting to different blog posts.

"I think some of the active users are not posting anything much". You mean they aren't starting any new discussions? Is that correct? Did I interpret you correctly? Secondly, they reply to other replies and comments more. Is that what you are saying?

4 posts in a single day was not bad, to be honest. Because many of us are here apart from having our main work for livelihood. So the time we get isn't like a full day's work. But I'm quite active here since a few days now.

Exactly. Now I'm aware of that fact by far. But I am still out of wits as to why anyone would want to delete their posts after all. I mean why? Are they carrying a formidable reason to do that?

@JudyEv Out of date? Could be that we discussed a few things situationally. And then when we look back 2 years later, then they might look out of date. But if any related news springs then again we remember those news a couple of years back. And they don't become out of date. I think this is the flip side of it.

@abhi_bangal Some feel the posts are out of date perhaps. I don't really know why they would. I don't suppose there is much point in leaving up the 'breakfast' or food posts.

It was same here until a few days back. I didn't bother to check how many posts I had written. But I don't know why I was drawn to that number and since then I observe it daily - at least for myself.
