First Day of Summer

Happy Friday and happy first day of summer! After all the days of rain we finally have sunshine. As we head into a week of dangerous heat it seems as if Mother Nature is just testing our patience. Last night some pretty severe thunderstorms rolled through and I was just hoping the power didn't go out. Thankfully it didn't but many areas around us lost power.
Since it's supposed to be ungodly hot this week I'm going to make our grocery list with light and easy meals. Since we're doing a pick-up at Sams Club, a rotisserie chicken would be a good idea. That would give us a few meals with no cooking.
My daughter didn't have work yesterday so we ran a few errands and had lunch with my oldest daughter and granddaughter. It was a nice spontaneous girls day.
Nothing much planned for today. The laundry is already going and so is the dishwasher (we forgot to turn it on last evening).
Any exciting plans for the weekend? how do you plan to beat the heat?

Happy Friday to you too Marilyn.
I had no idea that Friday was the first day of summer.
A week of dangerous heat sounds like something nobody needs.
They were worried about people dying in the heat here and it's got nothing on the beat that you get.
I hope you all stay safe during the heatwave.
Light and easy meals are best right enough.
Oh yes, Rotisserie Chicken would be awesome.

We have nothing planned for the weekend.
The heat took us both a bit by surprise and it is going to continue, so for Yvonne's good we are staying at home this weekend, except for a bike ride or two

The heat is going to be oppressive so I won't be going anywhere. Its going to hit us like a ton of bricks.
Glad you and Yvonne are doing good and enjoying some rides on the bike.

It is like a weight on the shoulders right enough
Maybe its because I am getting older that I am struggling with the heat
Rides on the bike do cool us down a bit

Stay indoors mostly. Go out in the early evening or early morning. But doesn't look too bad here in the sunshine state.

We had those storms too and although they were pretty bad I'm glad we weren't the ones to lose power.

We have a nice day today, but a quick little rain just came through, but it is drying and clearing now.
I spent the day with Grandpa at our son's place with the girls.
He and our son took them across town to the doctor's office to get their MMR vaccine.
They did not think that they would give it to them because they are not due yet and our city is not considered as to having an outbreak. But they did each get one.
I whispered into Willow's ear that they were going to get a little pick at the doctor's office, and it would not hurt and she should remember that and not tell Sissy because she would not want to go and she would cry. Sissy did cry because they did not prepare her but it was a quick cry and she was over it. But she is not as mature as Willow is.

It is my favorite season but I think this summer is going to be too hot for me, we are having 38ºC and higher and the summer has just begun.

I'm glad you had a nice lunch with family. Weed man is coming today to work on getting rid of my 5 foot weeds. I plan on hibernating in the AC.

Today is again clouds but thankfully no rain so far. We had some good bright sun and pleasant weather in the last two days. It was a good break from the week long rainy and gloomy weather.
No big plans for weekend. Staying indoors, watching TV, online work and surfing and lazy around...the best kinds of weekends
