Yeah, I just saw a news story about Jaws due to the 50th anniversary. They said the shark didn't work 90 percent of the time.

@snowy22315 at least it turned into a scary movie despite it all, Did you see it at the time it came out?

I don't think I'd want to even get that close to a mechanical one

The 50th anniversary has really helped bring this story and how it was made into a movie into the news.

@RasmaSandra No but I have a feeling that the mechanical shark brought the actual shark into the limelight for many of us.

@Juliaacv as long as that is mechanical it is all right I would not want to meet up with a real shark

@JudyEv it sure is and obviously there is no such thing as a trained shark it had to be mechanical

That shark looks more realistic than any of these CGI sharks nowadays.

I don't know how relaxing that would be. Those teeth are pointy.

Yes, I watched the first one with my first wife. We saw it on VHS tape... That was before I stopped watching scary movies. I've never watched any of the other ones.

I saw the actual shark when it was still part of the back lot tour in universal studios in California.

Aha, the shark that made Spielberg famous! I remember jumping when the shark bites the girl going out for a skinny dip. The music track added to the suspenseful movie.

I actually thought that the Shark in the original Jaws was a real Shark.
