I Was Shocked

My sister sent me this photo a few weeks ago. I was totally shocked when she told me this snake lives under their home and that they like that he lives on their property. She said that he is a good snake. That he is not poisonous and that they have even named him Sneaky Snake. I thought that she was like me and petrified of snakes. I hope that Sneaky Snake will stay clear of me.

It's a shame that snakes scare you, they eat mice and other small kritters that could get into your home

My friend Nancy is the same way. For me it's scorpions, I guess it all depends on where you live sometimes

He looks like one that would come out of a wicker basket when a snake charmer played music. I would place a good bet that there is at least one snake under my house..but as long as they stay there..OK with me. They probably catch mice.

Yes, they definitely eat the rats and mice. We definitely have them too. From our back window there is a tree branch that we occasionally see a snake sunning on. Just seeing it from my window freaks me.

@Tampa_girl7 As long as I don't step on one, it's all good as far as I'm concerned.

I read a local article a few days ago about all of the snakes we have here locally. And, there are many. Most are non-venomous. Still they intimidate me. I feel your pain. Ikes!

To be fair Sneaky Snake looks like a nice snake. I'm sure he would not harm anyone. Not poisonous so nothing to worry about. What a great creature to have live under ones house

I have seen that kind around here, out by our garage shed. One came across the street from the empty field also. I like that I do not have mice and rats because of them.

Yep, he has all the signs of being a good snake and non- poisonous. Looks to be some type of ribbon or garter snake.

@Tampa_girl7 That is how my husband sounds! I have gotten one out of the chicken coop years ago. But I have an interest in knowing what kind they are and which ones are poisonous.

No snake is a good snake in my world. I can’t see to tell what type they are and whether poisonous or not those fangs would hurt.

Snakes eat pests like mice and rats. As long as they aren’t poisonous snakes they’re beneficial. I have neighborhood cats for that, but they’re pretty expensive to keep.

No, I don't like them either. I am glad that she finds it nice that they share the property, I would have called the real estate agent to list the house if it were me, oh wait, that was one of the reasons why we sold our former place, that and down-sizing. I am terrified of snakes and I freeze when one crosses my path.

This is true, this snake is not poisonous and they are very useful because they kill mice and other small animals. We had one in the garden and I always hoped NOT to meet it. I am petrified by snakes.

Oh my. I’m not good around snakes, but I wouldn’t exactly be thrilled if it had taken up residence under my house. God bless them for being okay with it!

Snakes are good for keeping rodents and other creepy crawlies away. I wouldn't mind having a snake. As long as he wasn't poisonous.
