My Big Chore for the Day/Hit By a Wasp!

As noted in my previous post, we bought a new vehicle yesterday and hadn't planned on executing the sale, but with the numbers being right, we did it. I have to clean out my van today so I can go pick up the new Durango. The Durango is being detailed this morning so that part worked out just fine. I was about 30 minutes into the job when a wasp flew right into my face and stung me under my right eye. I came right inside to get some ice and that has taken the sting out. However, I feel some swelling so I'm going to get an allergy pill. I can't take Benadryl (allergice to it of all things), so allergy pill it is. How is your day going? OUCH. I'm sorry that happened. Blasted wasps. I'm staying cool, working on getting my Apple Music reset on my new computer.

It didn't swell a lot. The ice did it's duty on that one. That will be nice when you have it all set up!

Oh, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets! They are all evil creatures! I get so sick when one bites me. I have an epi pen, but the last time one bit me, I ended up at Urgent Care anyway, as I spiked a 104 temp in a very short time. I am so sorry. And under the eye, our skin there is so thin, anyway, and it always swells.

So far very lucky on that one. I used to need the epi also. But outgrew some of my allergies. The allergy pill and ice for 30 minutes really helped. Took the sting out and very little swelling.

@kaylachan We have been spraying and knocking down the hives as fast as we discover there. I am fixing to pick up a case of wasp and hornet spray to make sure we don't run out.

Hope the sting is better today ....we had a nest in a wardrobe and had to get a man out to sort it last week. My Mom had been stung the week before. There were hundreds of wasps.

I don't feel it at all today, not even sore! Was that inside your home? Wow, that is a lot of wasps. You are all lucky that there was only one sting with that big crew!

OUCH! Sorry to hear about the wasp sting. I've only been stung once by a wasp; and it was on my hand. I hope it's better now. My day is going OK. It's only 5:50 am.

I haven't felt it once today, so the ice and allergy pill worked its miracle. It hurt really bad right after I got stung and just knew my eye was going to swell bad. I hope your day continued to go in the right direction!

I have not been stung this year so far. When I get stung I use a weed called plantain as a poultice and it stops the pain and swelling. I got a wasp twisted in my waistband of my shorts and got three stings there and two on my hand. I stepped outside and got some plantain and squished it up and applied it. It did a great job. I hope your sting calms down.

I will have to remember that one for when my husband gets stung again. He is allergic to them. This one wasn't as bad as I anticipated. The ice helped very much.

That hurts. I always put a poultice of baking soda on it

I didn't think of that one either! It's good, the sting was taken out with the 30 minute ice pack and just very little swelling now.

Between the ice and allergy pill, the sting left in 30 minutes and not much swelling at all. I was lucky!

It did hurt bad and that is why I left the ice on so long. I was really surprised that it didn't stay swollen. I couldn't even tell I had been stung this morning when I got up. I got lucky! I think I am going to LOVE this vehicle!

@kareng glad that wasp sting didn't cause any more pain and swelling than it did. I think wasp stings are worse than bee stings.

OK so far. I taught a morning group lesson and will be heading back to work soon. Being stung by a wasp is a pain.Have you reached the"itchy" stage?

Started off as a good day and then suddenly. I have no idea how you treat a sting, but hope you can reduce the swelling

That is painful...I've been stung while cutting grass several times and I swelled up and ended up having to take allergy medication....and I'm not one to take pharmaceuticals. Now I know of herbal remedies to help if that happens again, which hopefully it doesn't.
