Bathtub

In most Indian homes one hardly sees bathtubs. Some have buckets and a mug, some have hand showers and some head showers.
Personally I am not in favour of a bathtub. I have stayed in hotels while on several tours but I always asked for a bucket and a mug if there was no head shower.
Cannot think of using a bathtub that someone else has used it even though it is cleaned before use.

Most homes have a tub/shower combo in the US but, sometimes a house will have a shower in one bathroom and a tub/shower combo in another or a jacuzzi...
I will not use a tub in a hotel... You never know if it has been cleaned between guests. We take flipflops with us to wear in the shower at hotels.
I saw pictures of a bucket and mug combo at my friend's house in the Philippines. When I took them on a virtual tour of our house, they asked me to stop and go slowly over everything in our bathroom.

I wonder if cleaning the bathtub each time it is used is time consuming

@allknowing It can be, yes... Sometimes you can see a dirt ring in the tub if one nasty person uses it. GROSS!

I would never sit down in a bathtub in a hotel or motel either. I actually can’t think of the last time I used my own tub. I prefer a shower.

@allknowing They really have the yuck factor. I always bring disinfectant and flip flop shoes to wear in shower .

@allknowing yes! Especially in the winter after a long day at the office, the hot water with the jets is almost equal to a deep tissue massage

You have a good point never to use a bathtub after someone else has used before.

I clean our bath tub after every use.
It sparkles, its like new.
I must admit that I see no issue with using a clean sparkling bath tub even if 100 people have used it previously.
But your culture is different from our culture.
We have a shower as well.

Bathtubs are very handy to have with children around. I would never use a bathtub in a hotel though with so many users. My dad’s bathtub has jets so it’s like a hot tub. He put a brand new one in when they first moved there, and made sure it had jets so my mom could get the effects of a hot tub for her arthritic body. It really helped her.

Is a Jacuzzi different from a bathtub with jets?

I have a large bathtub but never use it. I like a shower.
I would never sit in a bathtub in a hotel/motel or anywhere that isn't my own.
