What The Wind Did

Today was a windy day here. And that wind came from the 'wrong' direction for my flowers. I noticed a bloom, which wasn't yet full, lying on the ground beside the plant. I picked it up and put it into a little dish with some water in it. What the wind did not want, I do. The bloom is from my big double begonias. Do you ever make the most of something like this? I have found that the bloom will last for a week if I keep it away from direction sunlight from a window. ~Photo is mine

It looks like a lovely bloom that the wrong direction wind blew off of the plant. I must admit I probably would not have done what you did. I could type and say I might do it in future, and I might, but I might not. But I have more chance now having read your post

Being so small it only requires a small little dish, and it found its way to the counter on the vanity in our bathroom. And it brightens up that little space nicely, if only for a short time.

Thank you. This variety has double blooms, this little one was just starting. When they are in full bloom the petals look like velvet.

@Juliaacv I once planted a pot of begonia semperfloren ,but it didn't survive winter.

@changjiangzhibin89 That is the variety that I have, but I have never brought them into the house. They do wonderfully in the south sun outside.

I am sorry the wind broke one of your flowers. I never threw flowers, they look great inside a water basin.

Yes, a little floral float can brighten up a corner of a room easily. This one found its way into the bathroom, sitting on the vanity.

@LadyDuck My Gramma used to do things like that. I remember Willow seeing a little floral float here once when they were here, and she was fascinated by it. The bloom will never fully mature, but what is there is pretty and colourful.

@Juliaacv This is so beautiful, it would have been a shame to get rid of it.

Thank you, I thought the same thing. It will never fully open because it was knocked off of the plant too early, but I will take this.

I do this too. I hate seeing a l ittle flower sitting forlornly on the ground. That is a beautiful bloom and it looks really lovely sitting in that pretty dish.

Thank you. This particular variety has a double bloom with petals like velvet. I have a row of the red begin a row of white trailing petunias. I did this as red and white are the colours on our flag.

@Juliaacv I love your flag and I love ours. Much better than the tricolour ones of some of the countries.

Yes, this bloom will never fully open. They are like a double bloom when they open, the petals look like velvet. But even as it is it is pretty inside here.

It is from those nice big double begonias, this was just the start of a bloom, they get quite large.

Thank you, they are so full when they are allowed to fully open. Like a double bloom with soft velvety petals. They are my favorite variety of begonias.

Bad is my wife's laundry placed outside for drying. A strong wind toppled her clothesline stand. I helped her picking up the fallen clothes.
