Such a Simple Dish, But So Good

I wanted to use up some leftover pork steak I had. So, I decided to make an "alfredo" of sorts. Not a true one. But a play on the concept and idea of one. Me follow a recipe? Are you kidding me? I cut up some red bell pepper, some onion and some celery and cooked that up a bit. Then added my diced, leftover pork. Cooked that a little bit more just to heat up the meat a bit. Then it was in with one can of cream of mushroom soup, some milk, just a wee bit of water, some oregano and powdered garlic. I cooked that a little bit and then added in some broccoli florets. I let it cook long enough to get the broccoli fairly cooked and then added in about 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, mixed it up good, then added in cooked macaroni noodles (that's what I had), and let it simmer just a few more minutes and served. Trust me, it's a simple dish, but so good. What did you have for dinner tonight?

I do not have receipt too. When putting flavouring, it is based on my gut feeling.

When you've been cooking long enough, you just sort of know what goes together and what to do. It makes experimenting around a lot of fun too.

@porwest Ah yes, so sometimes I will just want to add on something to try and see what will happen if I ever do that. The taste will turn out to be better than expected.

I ate a banana tonight. We had tomato basil soup and hamburger patty melt with havarti all on a sourdough for lunch. I am having some food issues right now, so took it easy tonight. I would enjoy your dish. Hubs would not, it has pasta.

Wow, that sounds awesome. Not sure if I have ever had havarti. I see it all the time, but have never bought it. Maybe on the next round I'll get some and give it a try.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I have a weird favorite way of eating it. I like to put Miracle Whip on it. I get a lot of sideways glances when I tell anyone that. But it's very good. lol

That actually sounds pretty good. I had a turkey/Provolone sandwich, BBQ chips and an ice cream bar.

Sounds quite good actually. You .ust have quite a good palet. Is that even spelled right lol I might have used tomato soup instead but everything else would basically be the same Maybe I would use cheddar grated So well done on that NO recipe needed

It's "palate" where I come from, but at least I understood what you meant. lol. Had I used tomato soup in the dish it would not have been an 'alfredo.' But hey, that doesn't sound half bad either. Maybe next time. As for grated cheddar, this would also make it 'not alfredo.'

@porwest Yvonne said Mushroom soup when I asked her. She explained it's not like mushroom soup when it's cooked with all the rest of them ingredients Palate, I thought that was something to do with artists paint lol I would only use cheddar because we don't buy parmesan lol I must start naming my curries A " Dopiaza of sorts" Sounds good

Most of the time I'm cooking despite the heat. But there are days we go for something less cooked, but it usually has nothing to do with temperature outside.

That sounds really good....that's the way I tend to cook as well. Last night my husband made some rice and added in the left over chicken and added a can of cream of mushroom soup. We generally use onions in everything and I'm sure if we had of used them in this dish...it would have even been tastier.

That sounds a lot like the way I make a meat and rice baked casserole. To me, it's just good eats and economical too.

As I have always said, there are those who cook and those who create. Before it was ever a recipe, it was an idea. When you've been cooking long enough you just sort of know what goes together and what to do. It doesn't always work. But most of the time it does.
