Some Do, Some Donut

We went to an annual board meeting at our local library. Our zumba instructor (who would not be attending) wanted us to show our support to hopefully convince the board that our zumba class was worthy of being included in the library budget for next year.
Admittedly, the best part of the meeting was the snack table filled with all kinds of sweet goodies
.
The following Saturday we got to zumba class late . . . our health nut instructor was in the middle of lecturing how doughnuts were bad. Someone must've informed her about the board snack table
, which I am sure disgusted her. "Doughnuts are horrible for you . . . there is no 'once and a while is fine' excuse for eating even one doughnut".
I went up to her after class to thank her as I always do and to say I showed up to the board meeting. I also let her know I enjoyed my doughnut
.
Do you support doughnuts
?

Your health nut instructor is wrong
Simply wrong
Donuts or doughnuts as you spelled correctly are good for us.
Especially for our mental health.
And a quick fix sugary boost.
I could not support your health nut instructor until the view on donuts is changed
Infact a 100% U turn is needed for me to be able to support her

I like an occasional donut, either an apple fritter or a filled donut (raspberry or apple filling)

@DaddyEvil Ah, so I take it you don't like pudding? There are some fake-o custards that I don't like which are more like icing - too rich for me.

I love donuts. Now that my husband has passed away, I don't get them anymore. He used to go to the local grocery store and buy me 1/2 dozen once and a while.

@LindaOHio Ohhh, there's a donut place kinda far from us . . . they have the best long johns with that maple frosting . . . soooo good. That place has "hearty" donuts - they are more dense than regular donuts for whatever reason - we love to grab 'em whenever we drive out that way. I literally will eat any donut!

@much2say I wish you lived closer too. I like a cake donut with maple frosting. That's my favorite....or a long john which is a long donut with cream filling and maple, of course, on top. What about you?

I am in total support of doughnuts lol but yes I know they are completely bad for you. They're the kind of fat that you can't burn off really but they're oh so good lol. I love Krispy Kreme

I know, right? SO good - especially fresh ones. Krispy Kreme is an east coast thing, I think? It didn't come out our way until maybe the early 2000s. We love 'em too. When the kids were little, they LOVED watching the doughnuts be made there.

@JordanLader They've actually had to downsize here and get rid of some locations, sadly. It's quite exciting to watch the wild river of donuts there
!

@much2say I'm not sure. I know they've been growing, I don't know where they are anymore lol. I still love watching them go through the conveyor belt lol

I should be watching my sugar intake
. You are fortunate if you don't have these doughnut/sugar cravings . . . I cave too often. And you're right, if I eat one too many, I will definitely pay for it. You just reminded me that my dad had a glazed doughnut everyday as a snack . . . I don't know if he got sick of them, but at one point I did
.

I had to look up "Berliner" . . . ohhh, I wonder if they are the same as our "jelly donuts". The custard fillings are especially delicious. I've had some "cheap" ones with a sort of fake custard - it's almost like a fluffy icing - those I do not like. LadyDuck, do you make your own doughnuts too
?

I wanted to do a Zumba class but it was during the time I was at work so it was not to be.
Doughnuts are yummy.

Ah, well I hope you can schedule in a class some time. There are tons of zumba videos on YT as you probably already know, but to experience it with others makes it truly fun. Yah, I don't care what she says, I will help myself to a donut

Yes. When my church stopped handing out donuts before the service, I lobbied for their return and I won. I enjoy my choice of Apple fritter, cherry filled, or cake donut every week. :)

On occasion. Your zumba counteracts them anyway.

Yes I support donuts and although I wouldn't eat them ever day I do believe they are a "must" every once in awhile.
My favorite is a good old jelly donut or a cream filled one.
