This morning hubby and I drove north to the little Mennonite store that sells Washington grown fruit. I bought 25 pounds of apricots. We'll freeze most of the fruit and enjoy it this winter. Home and hubby said he would carry the box to the house. He is used to taking care of me. He always has been a gentleman. Then he had trouble carrying the box while he stepped up onto the curb and over to our house sidewalk. I ended up packing the box to the house and got it into the house. He made it in and thank God he shut the glass door well. Hubby bent over to pick up the box from the porch floor and just that quick, started to fall. I am not super sturdy but apparently I am sturdier than my hubby. I managed to help him stay upright even as I thanked God he had shut the door well- falling against the door was one thing but falling out and down those concrete steps would have been a whole other uh oh. I've eaten one apricot. I didn't think they would be ripe already. The one I chose was ripe and juicy. It's time to start bagging fruit apparently. Hubby is upstairs listening to the National Public Radio and resting.

I'm glad you were able to catch your hubby! Pretty does more of the carrying here than I do anymore. I get dizzy too easily and am scared I'll break something if I fall. I like apricots but we can't get them in large quantities like we do peaches or apples.

@DaddyEvil It's a no winner. Just like I can't say anything to my hubby about his eating or lack of.

@DaddyEvil I'm glad you have Pretty with you. It's scary to realize how vulnerable my hubby is.

Oh, it's good you were right there and kept him from falling--as you said, concrete steps would be terrible. I dearly love fresh apricots, sounds delicious to me!

@MarieCoyle A gait belt is a good idea. I have never been fond of those gizmos and hate them now because they remind me that I am more fragile than I want to know about but...... I am a fall hazard.

@sallypup I worry a lot about my son, he has had several falls. I cant lift him up by myself. Last time I went and got a sturdy chair and a gait belt they gave me at the hospital. Between both of those, we were able to get him up, I was so thankful!!

Glad he was able to catch on the door and you. Down steps would be real bad.
