The plug-in diffuser almost caught on fire

Had a scary incident last night. I have a couple of diffuser plug-ins here in the apartment. 1 is a fragrance one in the bedroom and 2 were Feliway pheremone ones in the hallway and front room to try to chill out the cats. Adso attacks Charlie regularly and Charlie is stressed so I decided to try the Feliway again even though I haven't found them to be particularly helpful in the past. Anyway I had spent the later afternoon at the pool (lovely) and then got back here, got dressed, and started cooking. I thought I smelled something burning but I looked at the stove and the skillet was fine. The candles were fine. After a walk-through of the apartment everything looked fine. Then by pure luck I was in the kitchen looking toward the front room and I saw smoke wafts. I ran around and it was the Feliway diffuser. There was no fire but when I removed it and opened it up sure enough the wick for the thing was singed. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I wasn't around to notice that something was wrong. Needless to say I threw it in the garbage after it cooled down. I'm ready to throw out the other Feliway diffuser since it doesn't seem to be helping things between the cats in any case. Not trying to burn the place down.

A friend had this happen a few years ago. I had one gifted to me but I hadn’t opened it as I was hesitant. I threw it away, too scared of it. I’m glad yours didn’t catch fire!!

plug in diffusers are pretty scary. As for your cats, not sure what will make them behave.

We had the plug-in diffusers at the other house... I threw them all away when I found one of them smelling really hot when I was in bed reading... I had read an article online about them possibly catching fire. The most innocent-seeming things can cause the most harm.
