Another great day at the pool

I did a solid 3.5 hour shift. There were just 3 of us there (plus the lifeguard) for almost 2 hours before a few others showed up. So very strange for a holiday weekend. Maybe everyone went to the beach.
The water felt chilly but the lifeguard said it was 83 degrees so maybe I'm just getting soft in my old age. I spent a lot of time chatting with neighbors and then continued to work on Alton Brown's new book "Food For Thought". The lifeguard was all annoyed at me for rescuing a honeybee from the water and said he'd have to kick me out of the pool if I got stung. Sure. Go for it buddy. 
In any case it was a nice time over there. I'm back here now, showered, and chilling with the cat crew. I have the windows open but the tabletop fan on. It is nice not to have to have the AC on.

Was because i wouldn't jump in the shower with the water running cold

Is the book about cooking, or is it used as an idiom? Something for me to think about. 
It’s good you rescued a bee, they are precious creatures, so good on you. Why would you get kicked out if it stung you? Was the lifeguard worried you might have an allergic reaction? You can’t bee too careful.

Glad you had a nice time at the pool. It's rough here with plenty of heavy showers so not a pool day for me - not that it ever is.
