That is what I think when it comes to buying an electric fan. I live in a tropical country, electric fan is a must. But for the past two years, it seems like we are buying fans every 6 months or less. It seems that the fans nowadays do not have good quality anymore. We just bought 2 fans before summer, around February, since March is the month that starts to heat up here. And just the other day, the fan suddenly stopped. No smell, no hint that there is a problem in wires or cord or electricity itself. Now, I have a total of two fans not working, and I am still thinking if I want it to be repaired, since sometimes, I had to pay more for the repair only to last a few weeks.

I'm sorry that happens... I think I'd be buying a different brand of fan. It should last years, not months. If I was there, I'd make sure the fan was unplugged and then take it apart and see if I could spot the problem and repair it myself. Fans here have a one year warranty on them. After I looked at the insides, I'd carefully put it back together and take it back to the store for a replacement fan.

I tried different brands. No one here can take it apart and see what happened. I have to bring it to the repair shop for that and if I do that, it will cost me and if I got a warranty, it will not be honored at the store if I brought it to the repair shop

@rakski Our fans come with a one year manufacturer warranty at no extra cost. I'd try taking the fan back to the store you bought it at and see if they'll replace it for free. They should if you still have your receipt to prove when you bought it. If the store doesn't want to, then contact the manufacturer online and complain, show them the receipt and ask why they're selling sh itty products. Actually, it might work better if you complain on Fakebook... Go to the manufacturer's page and complain a LOT!

This would be disappointing for you. Sometimes a repair can cost almost as much as a new fan. Things aren't made to last nowadays.

We generally have good luck with fans. I did have one recently go out. But it's rare. I have a box fan we paid $14 for about 15 years ago and you can't kill it. We have about 6 fans we use in various places and they all work just fine and we've had them for years.

that is great. I think the fans we had years and years ago are more functional than the one you can buy now. I have a total of 6 fans and three of them stopped working

Your right electric fans are of inferiot quality. They seem to be disposable.

yes, it seems to be disposable even with the good name brand. I have 2 Union, 1 Asahi, 2 3D, 1 KDK

Maybe if you bought them online, you could read product reviews and get a good one.
