Hello everyone. I hope your day is off to a good start. It is 71 degrees F and cloudy here at the Jersey Shore. The high for today is 80 and we are expecting rain and storms. I have the windows open to try to cut down on the electric bill. I shudder to think what it will be next month.
I set the alarm for 7am today because my pool buddy and I were going to head to a flea/farmer's market. She just texted me that she's skipping it today since the weather is going to be bad. Oh well--no Amish food today. 
In all seriousness it is fine. I have enough to keep myself busy here. I think today I'm going to make homemade oatmeal creme pies. Do I need to eat them? No but it will be a project and learning experience. I bet the people at work will enjoy them if I can figure out how to do it successfully. I'm using the recipe from Bravetart so I think they will be good.
What's everyone else up to today?

Amish food, isn’t that just the vegetables that you take home and cook yourself because they don’t have stoves?

Sorry you had to get up early for nothing. I’m going to have lunch with Marie Coyle from here in about an hour, then go to Kickapoo Rail Trail for a walk.

Homemade oatmeal cream pies sound like just about the best thing ever. I don’t know if I ever asked you, and if I did I’m sorry to repeat myself, but when did you go from being a good cook to a full on impressive cook? Was it just gradual over the years?

My ex worked very long hours even when we first bought the house and lived together before we were married.. He would be out by 5am and not home until almost 9pm. I would just pick a couple of recipes each week to try since I had nothing else to do with my time. I'm self-taught and I certainly wouldn't say I'm impressive. I can make decent food. People do pay me to make it for them.
My skills have improved over the years but I still wouldn't say I'm a great cook or baker. Maybe that it is being modest. It is just a matter of practice.

Good morning... It is 71F and sunny in my part of Missouri this morning... Our high is predicted to be 91F by late this afternoon. We have 90% humidity right now.
Oh, that sucks! I was looking forward to hearing about all the good deals you got at the Amish market.
Nothing is going on here today... I'll try calling the county tax assessor's office and see if I can get a copy of my 2023 taxes on my car. That's the only thing I can't find and I'll need it to get the car tagged. I found my cancelled check showing I paid them but I'm sure the DMV won't accept that...

I know your oatmeal creme pies will be better than Little Debbie's. Too bad about the flea market. It's going to be hot over the next week or so. I'm just catching up here because I fell asleep while MyLotting this morning.

I have a scene reading group at the library today, I will go as long as it is not pouring. The weather doesn't look too promising, but it may be a one and done storm. We will see.
