Tortoise that got away from home returned to its owner in South Carolina

Surfside Beach Police Department officers with the assistance of wildlife officials were able to locate a tortoise that belongs to a resident on Wednesday June 11. The tortoise was seen in the streets of Surfside Beach when the police officers determined that the tortoise was not a native of the area. After the word got out of the lost tortoise go on social media, the owner of the tortoise was reunited with his pet the same day when the employees of the animal shelter where the tortoise was being taken care of. One good thing about a tortoise on the loose is that it would not get too far from where it was lost, as they are slow movers. It was good it was found before a car crushed it to pieces.

Every time I read a "lost turtle" story I can't help but think the end of the story winds up being, "He was found six years later six feet from where he was last seen."
