Summer Food

Don't we all have foods we eat in the summertime and that that we eat in the winter? We sure do here. I have been eating eggs for days and decided to eat fruit and some cinnamon buns today. Then later I will have some smoked salmon. I am really enjoying that and it is chuck full of protein for me. My daughter and I are both looking forward to a nice bowl of pinto beans cooked with a ham hock. It is so good with the seasonings I use. And, of course we can't do without some cornmeal with honey. So delicious. I haven't had any for so many months now. And goulash too. So, I wish that Fall would get here. But, until then I will be enjoying fruit, eggs, smoked salmon and other snack foods. We just don't eat big meals in the summer. Just several snacks during the day.

I pretty much eat the same stuff year round. Nothing seasonal. No fresh fruits or veggies. My wardrobe is the same way - year round.

I don't recognize summer or winter trends when it comes to cooking. I may grill more often in the summer and eat more seasonal fruits and vegetables but I will make the same tuna salad, potato salad and fruit salad in December too. Smoked salmon is one of my favorite things, ever.

I never grill and eat light in the summer. I have a bigger appetite in the winter.

@celticeagle I think I want richer, more stew-like, dishes in Winter.

We eat the same type of foods all year round except for the fruits we can't buy during the winter months. And some of those I dry during the summer so we can have them in the winter.

Interesting. I eat lighter in the summer, not much of an appetite in the heat.

@celticeagle The house is always the same temp, summer or winter, so no reason to change our diet other than the differences in foods available to eat.

Me too. The lighter the better in the heat.

In the Winter we have stews and soups, puddings with custard. In the Summer we have salads and ice cream

I go pick up a box of peaches this coming Wednesday. Meantime I am picking up apples from one of our trees and making what I hope will be decent sauce.

We don't eat much at the best of times and our menus change a bit with the seasons but not too much.
