Do You Like Honey In Your Coffee?

My brother in law drinks his coffee every morning with a teaspoon of honey in it. My husband said that he has been doing that for years. Last week we ran out of coffee creamer. I don't use any sugar in my coffee or artificial sugar. I cut a lot of sugar out of my diet when my husband was diagnosed with diabetes years ago. I decided that I would try a little honey in my coffee since we were out of coffee creamer and milk, which is my usual go-to. I only used like 1/4 of a spoon and enjoyed it very much. I can see this becoming a usual cup of coffee for me in the future. I just wondered if anyone else here enjoyed honey in their coffee? And if you haven't tried it, what are you waiting for? I dislike the taste of the honey in my coffee. If I am out of dairy cream (NO creamer!) I prefer black and with no sugar.

That is how I usually drank my coffee when out of creamer and milk. I just thought I would give it a try. It would be okay every now and then, but not something I would want every day!

@LadyDuck I guess it just depends on what flavors you like!

@kareng The taste of honey "kills" the taste of a good cup of espresso.

I don't think I have tried it in coffee, but I do like it in tea.

Yes, I have also tried it in tea and enjoyed it. It's different in coffee, so if you are wanting something a little different, give it a try!

@kareng I rarely put anything sweet in coffee. I only use milk or cream, or once in awhile a sugar free syrup.

Honey in coffee is not something I've ever heard of and never would have even thought it use it. I'm glad you liked it and now you have a new way of enjoying your coffee. I drink my coffee black (no milk or sugar) so it probably wouldn't be something I'd try but my daughter loves creamer in her coffee so I'm going to suggest this to her.

Right! If yo are used to black coffee, you probably would not enjoy it. I don't do sugar in my coffee, but enjoy creamer.

I've never tried it in coffee. I haven't had any coffee since my hubby's been gone. He used to make a cup of decaf instant for me every afternoon.

I can only drink decaf now with the recurring UTI's. The only other coffee I can handle is the instant formula that Farmasi puts out. It has less than 40% caffeine.

@LindaOHio Since I made the change with coffee and cut out all sodas with caffeine, I do much better.

@kareng I'm sorry about the UTIs. I finally got rid of mine after months of getting one after another (or the same one). Knock on wood.

@porwest Only time I have drank it black is when I worked for Pipeline Safety at Natural Resources and we had weekly hearings that were really boring. It was so cold in that building and the hearings went on and on and on and were all very similar and very boring. Black coffee was the routine there because they were always out of sugar or creamer or both!!

Yes, we do in the family. We use honey for our coffees or drinks. It's a safer alternative than commercial sugar.

You are right there. Regular sugar and sugar substitutes are all unhealthy.

I like it in tea also! I would never have thought to try it if my brother in law had not been doing this for years.
