Five Foods You Shouldn't Refrigerate

We want to eat foods that are at their peek in freshness and nourishment. Some foods need to be refrigerated and there are 5 that shouldn't be. Here's the list: * Bananas ripen properly at a warm temperature between 59 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Citrus fruits and such items as avocadoes and watermelon do best at room temperatures. * Butter-- The U.S Dairy says its fine to leave butter on the counter. Salted butter is safest to leave out. Storing it in a covered container is ideal. Chocolate -- The taste of chocolate will suffer if you refrigerate it. It will also cause issues with the color and texture. The cocoa butter that is in a lot of chocolate can take on a strange scent. Honey -- Keep it in a cool, dark pantry to keep it from getting syrupy and congealing. A container of honey was found in an Egyptian tomb, and, after 3,000 years it was still fresh and tasty.

I keep butter in the fridge. I only use it in cooking, so don't need it "spreadable". After we cut a watermelon, we store it in the fridge. Everything else you've listed is the way we store it here.

I keep ours in the fridge too. Too afraid it will go rancid.

@celticeagle Exactly! I've had food poisoning once. I'd rather not have it again.

I do refrigerate butter, but had heard that it could be left out.

Gramma always had it out. We used it up pretty fast though.

Bananas and honey for sure will be good on the counter. Not butter and chocolate, if you leave the butter and chocolate on room temp here, they will surely melt

I keep butter in the fridge too, it will literally melt if left out with these heat waves

Interesting but I still keep salted butter in the fridge because i don't use it every day and then it would probably melt all over the counter. Well I know my chocolate fudge ice cream has to stay in the fridge. I also know someone who said not to refrigerate canned tuna and keep peanut butter out of the fridge
