Five Foods You Shouldn't Refrigerate

We want to eat foods that are at their peek in freshness and nourishment. Some foods need to be refrigerated and there are 5 that shouldn't be. Here's the list:
* Bananas ripen properly at a warm temperature between 59 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Citrus fruits and such items as avocadoes and watermelon do best at room temperatures.
* Butter-- The U.S Dairy says its fine to leave butter on the counter. Salted butter is safest to leave out. Storing it in a covered container is ideal.
Chocolate -- The taste of chocolate will suffer if you refrigerate it. It will also cause issues with the color and texture. The cocoa butter that is in a lot of chocolate can take on a strange scent.
Honey -- Keep it in a cool, dark pantry to keep it from getting syrupy and congealing. A container of honey was found in an Egyptian tomb, and, after 3,000 years it was still fresh and tasty.

I keep butter in the fridge. I only use it in cooking, so don't need it "spreadable".
After we cut a watermelon, we store it in the fridge.
Everything else you've listed is the way we store it here.

I keep ours in the fridge too. Too afraid it will go rancid.

@celticeagle Exactly! I've had food poisoning once. I'd rather not have it again.

I do refrigerate butter, but had heard that it could be left out.

Gramma always had it out. We used it up pretty fast though.

I don't refrigerate my chocolate. It's usually not around long enough.

@celticeagle Yes, according to the climatic condition of our city. We can't keep chocolates out of the fridge. They will melt.

Interesting but I still keep salted butter in the fridge because i don't use it every day and then it would probably melt all over the counter. Well I know my chocolate fudge ice cream has to stay in the fridge. I also know someone who said not to refrigerate canned tuna and keep peanut butter out of the fridge

I keep butter in the fridge too, it will literally melt if left out with these heat waves
