Last night I picked the muscle relaxer bottle up, looked at it, then set it back down. I went to bed without patches or Tylenol or the muscle relaxer. Sore, not in pain. Thank God! Thanks again for your concern. Here’s a sunny song that @Scarred4lyfe has been waiting for.
Sunshine - Jonathan Edwards
Jonathan Edwards was an 18th century Congregationalist preacher. His 1741 (not a typo) sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is still referenced and quoted today.
That’s not the Jonathan Edwards we’re dealing with in this song.
THIS Jonathan Edwards was born about 200 years AFTER that sermon was written (he’ll be 79 in a couple of weeks). This one is a one-hit wonder folk singer. And this is the one hit.
For all the cheery sound and upbeat title, this is one angry protest song. It’s about the Vietnam War, Nixon, and the politics of the day. The standout line in the song is, “He can’t even run his own life, I’ll be damned if he’ll run mine.” Nixon, who had an enemies list (don’t stop me if any of this sounds familiar), didn’t read between the lines of this one. It’s a little more subtle than, say, “One Toke Over the Line” (which Nixon’s VP Spiro Agnew went after with the full force of the FCC, threatening radio stations with the loss of their license if they played such a “subversive” song), but a lot of people got the message.
It’s still applicable today, to all the bureaucrats (I was on the phone this morning for 45 minutes because of them) in the world.

Most people don't remember the name of the people behind the one big hit.

We all liked this song back then, it even seems to fit with todays BS. I can't remember the last time we were NOT participating in a war somewhere.
I have to wonder how much a president actually has power to do given they rarely serve more than 4-8 years, there's a permanent government that we never voted on which seems to me to be the backbone of country and is never held accountable, well not that I can see anyways, then again I'm not all that politically minded anyway
EDIT: ooops left out a key word, 'OUR' country

It's never the politicians who deal with the war, it's the kids who are shipped over to fight them.

Not aware of the songs, I am not much into music outside my country. I do hear them from time to time and like them. I know those that make to global popular charts.
I avoid taking painkillers as long as I can tolerate the pain.

I don't like the "heavy duty" painkillers. Tylenol and lidocaine patches are fine for 99% of my stuff.

I had to do a course of muscle relaxers a few weeks ago, sciatic nerve decided to hang out and talk for about a week after I did some yard work. I have to say I did not like what it had to say.
