Changes Have Made In Shopping

I didn't have any choice as prices have gone up so much that I was going to have my shopping list change drastically. Some of the healthiest foods are now so unaffordable for me. I have always loved produce, but now its so high here. There are few sales and the sale is still an increase from last year. I am now shopping twice a month, so I can stick to more sale items and not get really low on food. You know its a challenge when your freezer has only a couple items in it. What has gone up the most in your area?

For the most part, prices are down from January but there are still supply chain issues affecting availability of products. So we do without some things. Beef prices are still outrageous, chicken is still not back to pre Covid prices but pork is down or at least back to a reasonable price. Dairy and eggs are down along with cheese. Peanut butter is still high. Coffee is still up but not as bad as early this January. Since I can't physically shop anymore, all my shopping is done online and delivered. I miss out on clearance and discounted items. I have a feeling that because prices went up so much over the four years before this year, they may never return to pre Covid levels.

One thing I do not like about online shopping is that if I am to buy vegetable, I am often disappointed by their delivery of the unfresh vegetables. Once or twice we would have some eggs broken in their tray despite of they been protected by the egg carton

@id_peace That was my concern too but anytime I'm not happy with the quality or if something is missing or broken, I contact the store and they quickly refund my money and apologize for the trouble. 90% of the time that produce is delivered, it's something that I would have chosen for myself.

My area is having supply chain issues as the last time I visited the store there wasn't any pork.

Most of the items especially food have seen a price rise. Inflation is hurtful. One needs to go for frugal living and mindful shopping.

It’s probably been produce. I don’t buy milk or eggs so the cost of those don’t affect me, but the produce is high.

I don't buy milk or eggs either. Stopped using eggs for baking when the price was so high you would have thought they were golden eggs. Now when I need an egg to bake cookies I use a banana in the recipe.

Meat has gone up a lot here. Fortunatly, at the same time, I have started to like veggies more. And for proteins I use eggs and legumes.

Our food prices seem to constantly rise. Produce is crazy high here. That and meat are what runs the bill up for me. We eat very little red meat. I get more creative than ever with ways to have protein. Luckily, we like beans, tuna, etc. I can het a lot of mileage out of a chicken.

I am using beans more and they are certainly more affordable. Today its white beans, as enjoy them with pasta.

Egg and milk prices are high here. I do what I always do this time of year: I buy state grown fruit like cherries and peaches and freeze some for the winter months. We mostly eat vegetarian so meat prices don't bug us. I'm trying not to waste food so I buy freezer vegies like cauliflower not fresh stuff.

I miss cherries use to live in Oregon and would pick in the orchard. Its a long trip from Southern California. Maybe some day I will move back to having seasons and cold temperatures in the winter.

Since Trump came into office we have been finding alternatives to US products. We have very few, as we've been making our own products. So Heinz Ketchup sits on the Shelf and our local product comes home.
