How long do you spend in the shower?

July 21, 2025 5:22pm CST
How long do you spend in the shower? Reason I ask is because I just had a shower And when I came out of the shower Yvonne asked me why I had taken 20 minutes. I really did not know what to say - 28 years together she had never asked me that before. From 1999 until 2016 we had this awesome bathroom with 3 shower heads , and a huge bath and we spent hours in the bathroom So 20 minutes - what's the big deal. So do you think 20 mi it's in the shower is too long? How long do you spend in the shower

@Ineeddentures Why will I spend more time or less time that I need to?

@allknowing I have no idea Sometimes I just stand under the lovely water for 10 minutes extra when I don't need to

I would say 15-20 depending on how much time I have. I spend longer in the bathtub, but obviously I am not spending time in the bathtub this time of the year.

@Ineeddentures I love to be in a steaming hot tub when it's cold in the house.

Oh don't get me started on about a bath tub Our hot water is so cheap I fill the bathtub up and can be in it for an hour or more or even longer I must admit I still prefer a bath even in the summer

@snowy22315 Oh I don't like our house being cold and it never is. It wouldn't be good for Yvonne's health I have to maintain 18C for her So it is never cold

I'm not sure how long I spent. I think 20 minutes is reasonable

I have never timed myself, I do my routine which is to wash my hair and then use body soap for the scrubbing and then I just get out,

I don't think that I had ever timed myself either. I never thought Yvonne would time me. So next time, it's half an hours

@ineeddentures I like a long shower. I take them cold with the window wide open and I take my time. I like feeling fresh and zesty and a cold shower does that. I must time myself, though then I’d be very conscious of the time and it would be an unreliable reading.

You are a brave man. The water is so cold in our shower at home I couldn't handle it . I do have the window wide open So the people passing on the street can hear me sing Is your shower gas or electric powered? Ours is electric, quite expensive to use

@Ineeddentures Ours is electric. I don’t like it. Cubicle is also a bit small for reaching feet.

@xFiacre Lol I can relate to that. We have an excuse, our bathroom is very compact and the bath takes up a lot of room

That's a really good thing to do Judy. I use the bath more than the shower. At home I can run a full tub of hot water for a few pennies. But a shower costs taking 10p per minute

Never timed myself, but I don’t rush …I can’t imagine being in a shower for 20 minutes ….the bath yes….i mean, it’s not like you have anywhere to float your rubber ducks in a shower !

When I was younger and without any physical limitations I could shower in about 10 minutes. Now it takes me about 1/2 hour or more.

I can take half an hour to get undressed sometimes lol If I want a shower at 10am I start undressing about 9.45am 1/2 an hour isn't bad Linda We all take longer I think as we advance in years I could do it in 2 minutes when I was young.

Nah. 15-20 minutes seems about right to me. How long I am in depends on what I'm washing. I don't always wash my hair, so those showers are a bit shorter.

I do not time it. Long enough to get it all done, I would say, including washing and rinsing my hair. Probably 20 minutes is a good guess.

I honestly don’t time myself when I’m in the bathroom. A shower for me usually includes brushing my teeth, shaving, or whatever else needs doing—so I just take my time. Maybe your wife needed to use it and felt like 20 minutes suddenly became a big deal or maybe she just wasn’t in the mood that day. Either way, if you came out feeling clean and refreshed, I’d say it was time well spent!

It's like about 10 minutes with the legendary pail for me. Still refreshing, even when there's some light chores that have to be done along the way. If it's going to be 20 minutes long, it sounds like a pretty mindful bathing experience. If the water’s warm and you’re not rushed, that kind of quiet time can be grounding. It’s funny how that question popped up after all these years! I say, if it works for you, it works.
