It seems that as you get old, the med box empties at a quick pace. And the pills also disappear quickly and you are out of them in a jiffy.
Every Sunday I must fill the box and it seems that in 2 days I take them all.
The knee doctor gives me lots of pills for my arthrosis. The arthrosis is a chronic illnes and most pills are only for pain. I often wonder if I should take less pills. There is one that is completly nasty.
I should discover a better way of living. Not so many pills and more fun.
How is your relation with pills?

I have a lot of pills that I take daily. I have some pills that I take every other day. I have some pills that I take at night. I have some pills I take with food. I have some pills I take as needed. I have some pills I take every four hours. I have pills that I take twice a day. I get tired of taking pills. Some are temporary, some will be long term.

In 1980, I took pills for fun.
The fun has worn off. Used to be I'd take a pill and get confused, now I'm confused before I take them.

@Vikingswest1 I took my fair share of interesting things when I was younger, too... Now, I wouldn't think of doing anything that might mess with the pills the doctors claim I need to keep my body running as well as it does.
I'd really love not to be dizzy most mornings as I start moving around the house and making breakfast. I have a pill for that but, if I'm not already dizzy and take that pill, I can't stand up or walk without falling down. I start moving around and, if I'm dizzy, I go back to my bedroom and take that pill. (A few times, when I couldn't make it back to the bedroom, I've yelled until Pretty got up and got the pill for me. I hate bothering her... For one thing, she's really, REALLY grumpy if I wake her up and I'd almost rather stay on the floor where ever I've fallen. For another, I feel like she's already got too much to deal with taking care of herself, let alone helping me. She's my daughter, not my nurse.)

That sounds like the way some of my pills have to be taken... The pill I take for Graves' Disease keeps needing to be adjusted. Currently, I have to split that pill in half and take 1/2 of it every morning. I have another pill that has to be taken only in the evening. When I had a working blood pressure monitoring device, I could check my BP morning and evening and, most of the time, I didn't need one or the other dose of those pills. The monitor broke a few weeks ago so my doctor told me the best way to do those meds is to take one pill morning and evening... That doesn't regulate my BP as well as I was doing before but I'm not spiking or dropping too low, either, as far as my doctor can tell. It's working "good enough". *shrug*
Some days I'd love to chuck all my pills in the trash and say whatever happens, happens... But that's not fair to Pretty. She depends on me, so I can't do something that stupid.

Everyday I take one calcium pill and that's it. I take it as I thought it may be better for my health. I don't like taking a lot of pills. My parents take high blood pressure pills in the morning. Whereas my mother-in-law has to take a lot of pills. But as long as she stays well, that's OK. I just wonder sometimes whether all the pills are necessary.

@marguicha I think taking high blood pressure medicine is important. Once you skip it, you may faint. As long as you feel well, it's OK to take these medicine.

I used to take only one pill untill I went to see a knee doctor. He believes in pills for arthrosis pain. He makes me take several and as they are free I take them. When Oscar came he took away one of them that I now give to Dixie.

@marguicha - Those pills are good to relieve the pain and help with the mobility. Check the side effects.

I have a pill box, as well. I got tired of filling it so I chose a different method of getting my morning and evening doses... On my bookcase at the end of my bed are all the pill bottles that I need to take every morning... When I start moving around in the morning, I take one pill from each bottle and put them on the end of my bed. When I have one of each, I pick them up and move to my dresser beside the bed and put the pills in a small bowl kept there for that purpose... On my dresser is another line of pill bottles. Those pills have to be taken twice a day. I put one pill from each of those bottles into the small bowl and then take the small handful of pills with a drink of water.
After taking my morning meds, I go feed and water my fishies and turn on their tank light. IF, that light isn't on, I know I haven't taken my pills yet.
In the evening, I take one pill from each bottle on my dresser and place them in the small bowl and take them and then go feed the fishies and turn their tank light off.
I am losing weight so I can, hopefully, stop taking so many pills every day... I've lost a total of 33 lbs (not quite 15 kg) in the last two months. So far, it hasn't made a noticeable difference in anything so I can stop taking a medication but I know that eventually, it will.
I don't know any other way to slow down or stop taking needed medications... If you figure out a safe way to do that, please share that information.

@DaddyEvil My eldest daughter uses her cellphose as an alarm clock for all her pills. When she comes, as we are talking, a very loud alarm sounds every now and then.

@marguicha That sounds odd unless they have to be taken in short intervals.

Mostly I take vitamins and supplements. I think they help. I fill a double pill box for two weeks at a time, but like you, I hate it, but it makes sure I keep track. I have a pill for my diabetes. I recently have added an herbal pill to give it a boost. Some people here order pill packs from their pharmacy. It charges a fee, but each dose, like morning or afternoon pills, is in a bubble pack.

I have some pills that I have started taking recently for my bone health. They are supplements suggested by my doctor post my hysterectomy surgery. Other than that none on regular basis. But then I have insulin dependent diabetes. I poke myself every 6 hours and I wish I didn't have to do that.

I don´t like to use shots that I have to put. Years ago, when I was on chemo, I needed a shot before each chemo to help with my immune system. So Dixie had to do it.

@marguicha Understandable and I can relate to it. I have type 1.5 diabetes and I have been doing it all my life. I am used to it and don't mind. But still, not having to do it will be so nice

I get it—those pill boxes always seem to empty faster as time goes on. It’s like you just filled it, and then it’s time again.
I’m lucky that I don’t have too many maintenance meds yet, and I’m hoping it stays that way as I age—with no new conditions sneaking in. I’ve got one of those weekly med organizers too, with day and night slots. It helps keep things manageable, and I only have to refill it once a week when it’s empty.
You’re absolutely right about wanting more life and fewer meds. Here’s to finding that balance—less pills and more joy every day!

Much like yours. I fill my pill box, then the next thing I know I have no pills in the bottles in the cabinet. THEN they won’t refill it because I have a three-week supply in my pill boxes!

Yes, for many people, especially as they age, the pill box does seem to empty faster and faster. What used to be just a vitamin or two turns into a carefully timed schedule of pain relievers, anti-inflammatories, supplements, and more.

When my mother in law got old, our first task in the morning was to go to her house to fill her pill box after we discovered that she wasn´t doing it well.
