Should Men Hold Doors Open for Women?

I like it. My husband always walks me to the car and opens the door for me and sees me in. He also opens doors for me at restaurants and stores.
I likewise open doors for other men or women who are coming in and out.
But the Gen Z's are having a cow saying women don't want men holding doors for them because it's something they can do themselves. They're saying "Modern etiquette has evolved past rigid gender roles."
Whatever. I think it's nice when anyone, man or woman, opens a door for me. I don't see a problem with it.

I always opened my own car door and got out, especially when my husband was older. He opened building doors for me when he could. He would always drop me off in front of the door so I didn't have to walk as far.

I like having the door opened for me too. These Gen Z’s are a strange bunch aren’t they !

I feel the same as you. It’s nice and I hold the door open for others too.

Since I'm from the older generation I aways appreciated chivalry. I never thought that I couldn't do things for myself (like open a door) but it was just manners for the man to hold the door open.
I agree that it's nice when anyone holds a door open and I don't believe it has anything to do with gender anymore.
Gen Z is nuts

My husband will open doors for me...though it did take a while to get use to have a man do that for me. I think it is a mannerly gesture to hold doors open for others.

I agree, it's nice when anyone holds a door for me. Strict gender rolls, I rejected in the 60s. Well my parents rejected them long before that, so I guess I wasn't exposed that much to them.
Not sure what generation 6-9 and year olds are. But I'm having a heck of a time getting them to pass the door to the person behind
They will knock each other over to be the one to hold the door open until everyone is off the playground. But I hate that when it's -20°C

Of course i like that! treating you like a queen, opening door for you. I would definitely love that. sometimes its nice to have someone who is willing to open the door for you. Just because we can do something doesn't mean we have to do it ourselves. Let's let them do the things they want to do for us, like opening doors, which is a way of showing their respect and care for us.
