What our eyes ignore

It’s funny what our eyes ignore when we look at something. I was reasonably happy with my photo of the vertical garden but when I uploaded/downloaded (what’s the difference?) it, for a moment, I couldn't work out what I was looking at. My eyes were focussing on the white parts. I could see the stark contrast between the parts of the pockets that were in the sun and the parts that were not. I hadn’t noticed that when lining up the photo. I guess it’s similar to when we take a photo and we realise later that someone has a flagpole sticking out the top of his head. Our brain doesn’t take it in at the time. It’s only when we see it in black and white (or colour) that we think maybe we should have had a closer look before pushing the button.

It is just a matter of focusing and that takes time. Eyes do see but you need time to see.

@JudyEv You have to. And as they say practice makes one perfect.

I know I take more notice of backgrounds and foregrounds now.

Uploading is when you give it to the internet, downloading is when you take it. I think, at least that's always what I've understood it as.

That's what @DaddyEvil said too so I'll take it as correct.

To download, get something from the web INTO your computer, to upload to transfer something from your computer to the web. You are right, we cannot focus on details when we take a photo, but when we examine them at home we notice our "mistakes".

@JudyEv - I am pretty good to use those graphic software to remove unwanted parts of a photo now.

@LadyDuck Vince does it quite often but I need more practice.

I am better now. When I find a good spot to take photos of horses, say, on a road, I check now that there are no small twigs that will get in the way between the horse and me.

Uploading something is when you send it to the internet. Downloading something brings it from the internet to you. But some of those "mistakes" make the picture more "real" and interesting... Or just funny.

Thanks for clearing up down- and upload. Certainly there are some very funny photos created by accident.

I've had a few endurance photos with twigs and branches getting in the way.

@JudyEv It can be aggravating. At least with the photo shop tools they can be fixed now

They said the right thing about downloading and uploading. We only noticed the photo we took after a while

You don't see it at the time. I guess it's similar to tuning out unwanted noise but if you have hearing aids, then you can't do that.

There is a lot of light play in that photo. I can see where it might distract you when you see it, after you already posted the photo.

I tried to process it so it wouldn't be so obvious but it was all a compromise.

It's fine but the shadow and lack of shadow are a bit 'off' if you want to be fussy.

Its really nice that you are spending time in your garden and doing all the things you love. Afterall we ourselves are responsible for staying happy. Happiness has to be found by us. My grandparents often complain about me not giving them time, and whenever I meet them, I tell them to read storybooks or listen to songs but I have a feeling that they don't want to find happiness.

I read a very interesting book once that said happiness is a choice. We can choose to be happy or we can choose to be miserable. There is a lot of truth in that.
