Sunny Top Ten: I Believe in the Sunshine (#5)

Good ol’ Chuy’s salsa is doing its magic on my stuffed-up sinuses. While I celebrate that I’ll give you another song that has a sunny disposition. Today’s song, while done by someone in the Country Music Hall of Fame, isn’t exactly country, so I’ll say “Linda? Maybe. Try the chorus first.” Here’s today’s tune. #5: I Believe in the Sunshine - Roger Miller Trumpets and a gospel choir. Yeah, that’s country. A very upbeat, uplifting, positive song (“I believe in the sunshine, even when it rains, even when the times are hardest”) from one of the greats in music. This was his penultimate visit to the country top 30, believe it or not: he only had one top 30 country song (which was a duet with Willie Nelson and Ray Price) after this, and only two of his singles after this even made the top 40. But by then his legacy had been secured. He even won a Tony Award after this (for Big River). And we all know “King of the Road.” Here’s to Roger Miller!
