We Get Saladed Out

I went to Ruler Foods yesterday with mom, as it was a "mom day," which are generally on Tuesdays and Thursdays anymore, and picked up a couple of items on my shopping list.
I told my wife what I got and she asked if I picked up a head of lettuce. "I thought we wanted to hold out on that one a bit," I reminded her.
The thing is, we love our salads. But when we buy a head of lettuce and of course all the other salad fixings, we can sometimes get "saladed out." After you eat it for a few days, it's not that it doesn't taste good. You just wear it out a bit, as happens with anything you have too much of.
So, generally speaking, we'll get a head of lettuce, and it lasts a few days and then we might go a week or two between the next one.
Is there something in particular that when you buy it, it lasts a little too long, and once it's gone, you don't want to see it again for a while?

@Ineeddentures We eat it year round. Usually we'll break from it for a couple of weeks, but not much longer than that. We still really enjoy them.

I'm getting tired of my sandwiches; but they're a necessity. On the weekends I try to use up the frozen dinners. My hubby bought A LOT!

@porwest Yes. I sit on the kitchen stool and just wait for a few minutes.

I like salads too but I can agree that after a few days it's a nuisance if it's not finished by then. I love a salad filled with stuff so it's basically a meal rather than a side.

When we do a "dinner" salad as the main dish, we always put some sort of meat in it. Steak, chicken, pork or something like that. We definitely load those up more than a side salad for sure. We do like taco salads too. We make those in these forms where you put a flour tortilla in and bake them into crispy bowls. Those are definitely hearty as well.

@porwest yum! I love taco bowls too and I also add meat to my salads if it's a dinner meal. We're kindred spirits when it comes to eating

I’m not that keen on lettuce to be honest….it doesn’t taste of very much and it doesn’t fill me up. I do eat it occasionally as long as there is mayo on it. The other sale ingredients I do like though , just the lettuce. I don’t buy it very often.

By itself, lettuce is pretty tasteless, I agree. But of course, when it's in a salad with all the other ingredients, and the dressing, it makes it very good. At least to me. Salads are usually a side, and when they are the main course, I always add meat to them to make them more filling.
