I called a Dealership to ask for an appointment time this morning. They could get my car in at 11:30 am... Fine with me! I had to take Pretty for a doctor visit this morning, anyway. Pretty came out and we had an hour before the car inspection so we came home for a while first.
The mechanic from the Dealership called and said they could get the car in early if I could get it there right now... Off we went. The car passed the inspection with flying colors...
Next up, the tags. The person at the DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles) said the plates I've used since I had my last car weren't registered to this one... I've only had this car for 9 years.
So I have new plates for our car. Right now, they're in the front seat under the armrest. I'll get them put on some time.
Next up, we needed groceries, just favorite stuff, so it didn't take long to go in and get them. While in line paying for the groceries, I called our favorite Chinese restaurant and ordered Springfield-style cashew chicken... We picked that up and came home.
We're both tired and ready for naps.
Did you do anything fun today?

I'm jealous that you had Chinese. After I reconciled the bank statements I worked in my word puzzle books. Cousin #3 canceled because she's been exposed to COVID.

Thank goodness she cancelled! You don't need Covid on top of everything else!
We bought three dinners... I scraped all the rice from two of them into a separate bowl in the fridge for Pretty since I won't eat it and put one set of the cashew chicken into a bowl and stuck it in the fridge for later.... Then I couldn't finish the portion of chicken in the third dinner so part of that is in the fridge now.
If you could get here, you'd be welcome to the third dinner. It's really good but the portions are large.

Pleased you car passed ok.
Your cashew chicken sounds nice …..
I just went shopping with my Mom today . The builders are at both of the neighbours so when we got back it was tricky enough to get back on the drive….we weren’t going to risk going out again.

Thanks...
I hope everything looks good with what the builders are doing around your driveway.
Edit to add: This is the third time since the pandemic began that we've eaten food we didn't make at home.

I can tell! You keep talking about working in the yard but I never see any evidence of that.
I know he was worried about getting his wife's car inspected and tagged. It's sat in their drive for several months and she's driving his truck back and forth to work.

Thank you. I was getting upset because every time I thought we could finally get it done, something came up to keep me from doing it. I was really happy the car started without a problem this morning and every time since then.
I looked in my backyard and I don't see where you did any work back there.
I visited with the older neighbor early this morning. I asked him how much he wanted to keep mowing our backyard. (He mowed the front yard a few days ago, as well.) He looked at the yard, thought about it for a minute and quoted me a price of $25... I wrote him a check for $75 and told him it paid for the last time he mowed and two more times, specifying that if the snows started early, the extra payment was a tip.
I thought we were both talking about him just mowing like he had been doing, only the back yard... As I was walking away, he said he'd get his weed whacker out and trim up against the house where his riding mower couldn't reach.
When we got home and started settling down for naps, I heard him weedeating around the house.
But didn't go out and stop him...

@DaddyEvil I like my yard better than yours.
I am sure the money is a big help to them and he appreciates it.

Thank you. The car passing the inspection wasn't the hard part of this. Me being able to see to get it to a garage to get the inspection and tags was the big problem.

It is, thanks... Every time I thought I could get it taken care of, my eyes would swell up or something else would happen to keep me from getting it done.
I was also happy that I didn't need a jumpstart this morning when I went out to check the car before taking Pretty to her doctor appointment.

@sallypup Our car insurance pays for the jumpstarts but still, I hate calling and needing one when the battery is brand new...
That reminds me... We need a new spare tire when we have the extra money. (Pretty is saving up for something but I can't remember what it was she told me. So the spare tire will have to wait.)
I try not to ask for things... I'll tell her I want something and don't bring it up again. Either it's important enough she'll remember or we'll have to get it when the situation becomes desperate. She DID point out a very nice looking long-sleeved heavy shirt with a hood on it when we were at Walmart. I'd asked about getting one toward the end of last winter but we didn't have the money. She asked if that would work as a winter jacket and I agreed it would. I'm happy she remembered and we had the money to get it. (I've always worn a heavy shirt in winter as a jacket and my last one finally wore out and got tossed.)

@DaddyEvil Thats great about needing a jumpstart. I remember how happy my hubby was when he no longer needed to go put air in the tires.

Goodness how did they mix that up with the plates. When I got this car about 6 months back they said my plates were too old and gave me a new one. The plate looked perfect but I guess they only allow you to have them for a certain amount of years.

I transferred them from the old Buick we had to this one when we bought it. The DMV person at the time said it was fine. I didn't want to learn a new plate number.

Thanks... Yes, the difficult part is finally done. We also did some clothes shopping. Pretty insisted I needed some new shirts (which I really did) so I picked out four more of the light shirts I wear during the summer from the clearance rack for $4 each and one heavy, long sleeved shirt for winter wear. (That one was full price but still a good deal this early in the season.)
I always wanted to try dosas but haven't made them yet. I will get around to making some one of these mornings. I hope you enjoy them.

Thanks... It was a delicious meal, if a lot more food than I could eat at one sitting.
Sometimes, nothing exciting is the best kind of day at work.

@DaddyEvil - I were concerned, we had the car inspected in Switzerland and I know they are strict, but with Italian bureaucracy you can never know.
We had 24 hours to remove the Swiss plates and send them back to Switzerland. We did and I already received the refund from the Swiss Division of Motor Vehicles for the portion of year from July until December.
I am sorry Aleve is not helping with your pain.

@LadyDuck Thanks... I'm not supposed to take Aleve as it can hurt my already damaged kidneys but nothing else is helping with the pain, either. I'll have to ask my GP for something I can take that will help in the morning.
I was overdue to get our car tagged by three years... The DMV doesn't send out reminders to get it done anymore but I don't know why. When I asked the clerk at the DMV, he said he didn't know, either. (It took the police three years to notice my car didn't have current tags on it, too. You'd think they'd pay more attention to something like that.)

I'm glad your car also passed inspection.
As long as the new plates are in the car, I can always show them to a police officer and won't get a ticket, even if I get pulled over before putting them on the car.
It was really nice here yesterday. We only reached 83F/28C so it was a good day to do our errands.
I got a lot more exercise than I'm used to getting and my back aches when I stand up and walk... Not even Aleve is touching the pain and stiffness.

I didn’t even go outside today. At first it was hot and then the thunder and rain came. I did listen to music for an hour while I walked on our treadmill. The music was nice.

The rain will help keep your area cooler. And walking, even if you can't go outside is good for you.

Thank you. Getting the car to pass the inspection wasn't the hard part. Me being able to see long enough to get the car to the mechanic for the inspection was the hard part.

I know... This clerk kept looking out his window at the tags instead of taking the info from the inspection papers I brought in from the garage we used for the inspection and kept talking to himself while he was working on it.
I'm so sore and stiff when I stand up and start walking last night and today. I really overdid it yesterday.

No, but I got a book I had been looking for months. It was out of print and was not available online and offline . All the booksellers here are my friends and one of them called me yesterday he had managed to get a copy from another bookseller in a city. I bought it last night.

@DaddyEvil Thank you. I have finished half the book. Half remains. I'll finish it tomorrow But I don't like reading any book this way I want to read it slowly, enjoying every word and every sentence.
Tomorrow I'll finish the book, and then read it again.
