What's the Problem Mom?

Thursday is a "mom" day, and I took her to the bowling alley to drop some money in the slots there. We lost our butts, but that's okay. Actually, it was only about $30 a piece. Not terrible, but the machines were really tight today. Then we just drove around a bit and wound up in Waterloo a few towns away and I stopped at Schneider's Meats just to check their prices. They stunk, but I did get some overpriced meat sticks to snack on. After that, before stopping at Schnuck's (our local grocery store), we stopped off at a little thrift shop called Nice Twice. The parking is terrible there and I had to pretty much make a spot, partly on the hill to fit, and so the truck was a bit raised. My mom is 74 with dementia, walks with a cane, and has a broken toe. So, I don't see the problem here with getting up in the truck, do you?

@Ineeddentures What, to be a better person? When it comes to money, I'm ruthless as hell and that never changed. lol

Your Mom is one year younger than I am, but I have no health problems. You are really a good son bringing her around.

@LadyDuck It's just like "poof," one day there it is and there's no turning back.

Mom was fairly healthy until this dementia thing came along. It just makes no sense, but it is what it is.

Yep. Two of them, actually. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and she's usually with my wife and I when we run errands or do whatever on Saturdays.

@rakski She really does, and she does still let me know how much. Seeing her smile and feel happy is always something that makes me smile and be happy as well.

I’d have trouble getting into the trucks myself lol. What do you mean by “the machines were really tight”?

The slot machines.

@lovebuglena When a slot machine is tight, it means it's not giving away a lot of money. It's keeping more of what you put into it. When one refers to slot machines, they can be loose or tight.

That seat looks awfully high. I have to put half of my butt on the seat and pull myself up with the car handhold. The cousins' cars are kinda high.

lol. It's usually lower but for the fact I parked on a hill on an incline. I helped her inside, which was interesting, but we got a good laugh out of it.

I did. lol. I considered backing up and making it normal height, but it was more fun to "struggle." Helps keep the adventure alive. Plus, we got a good laugh out of it. lol

I hope you helped her up into the seat like a good son... and didn't drag her along behind the truck like something you were trying to shake off but it wouldn't let go... I'm glad you get to spend time with her and I'm sure she appreciates it, as much as the dementia lets her.

These days it's Tuesdays and Thursdays. She lives with my sister in her basement, which, whenever I say that, raises eyebrows. But her basement is a two bedroom, 2 bath with full kitchen, living room, great room, and laundry room. lol But it helps my sister out and my mom loves the hell out of it, and because I am retired, there's really no excuse.
