See Seven States, Or Stand in Four

There’s a place in Chattanooga called Lookout Mountain. They boast that you can see seven states from the perch. No. If you’re lucky you can see Alabama, Georgia (it’s technically IN Georgia, just over the state line), and Tennessee.
Today I stomped all over their silly claim by not just seeing four states but standing in all four simultaneously.
Yes, it was Four Corners Monument day.
The drive was amazing, of course. The route my GPS took me put me in Colorado for about 15 miles.
The monument is on Navajo property. They have signs posted that it’s illegal to scatter cremains there, and I don’t even want to think about knowing what caused them to have to post THAT.
In addition to the amazing beauty you can see any way you look, the highlight is being at the only place in America where four states converge. The best anyplace else can do is three.
Despite the 100-degree temperature (which actually felt like 100 because of the bone-dry humidity), it was a pleasant time to enjoy the monument and get a t-shirt!
Then back into the air conditioned car for some more ice water to drink.
Another visitor took this picture of me standing in four states on one foot!

Pretty and I drove there, stood in the four states, no tee-shirt or picture and then drove on. It was HOT when we were there back when Pretty was around 7 years old (about 30 years ago), too.

@DaddyEvil — it IS. I have asthma, so there is no way I could have thought of being out there if it had been humid. Yes, it was hot, and it hurt, and I drained one of my water bottles (I carry two water jugs, a gallon and a half-gallon, in the car). But it felt better than the 101-heat-index of Louisville.

That sounds like fun. I think I did that some where too. Can't recall. That weather doesn't sound fun at all. We have had some cooler weather. I hope it lasts. Have a nice weekend.

It’s hot but there’s no awful humidity on top of it.

Are you doing the balance on one foot challenge to see if your going to die in the next ten years?
I did that a while ago and passed. Mind you, so did Michael Mosley and he hasn’t lasted 10 years, so it’s not a reliable test.
Great you can stand in four states at the same time. If you were drunk, you could have added one more (a drunken state), but then you probably couldn’t have stood on one leg.

In the drunken state it would have been more on two cheeks (the butt cheeks) than one foot.
No, just standing on one foot in four states for the sake of doing it. @Tampa_girl7 (54739)

I’m having a blast! I haven’t been to New Mexico or Arizona in over 40 years, and then I just drove through like a 20-something who didn’t have any sense.

I’m not as sturdy as I used to be, but I managed that with no emergency technician needing to help me.

That sounds like an epic road trip stop! Four Corners is one of those quirky landmarks that actually delivers on the fun—you really *can* stand in four states at once, and it makes for the best kind of travel brag. Take that, Lookout Mountain!
Also, love how the drive gave you a bonus Colorado detour—those surprise stretches are the best part of road trips. And yes… that cremains sign is one of those things that instantly raises more questions than answers. ??
Glad you braved the heat and made the most of it—t-shirt, photo, and all! Definitely a memory worth stamping into the scrapbook.

I'm jealous. I have always wanted to go there and stand in 4 states.
