It's amazing what big sheds can hide

On a property next to a road we use regularly is an aeroplane. We have long been intrigued as to how it got there and what is the story behind it. A few days ago, Vince called in to the place and made himself known to the owner. When he arrived home, he couldn’t stop talking. The plane is a Cessna 414 Chancellor and will be used for spares. It was used by an aerial photographer and there is a hole cut in the floor where the camera used to sit. There are two more small planes hanging from the roof of his big shed. Also in the shed was a 308 GT Ferrari which he drives occasionally. He has offered to take Vince for a drive in it one day. He is working on two cars – a 1929 Packard 640 Straight-Eight. Vince found a restored one for sale in the US for around US$800,000 so I guess this one will be worth much the same when it’s finished. You can also see the rear end of an E-Type Jaguar.

A friend of mine restores old cars and sells them for a high price but I've never known him to restore or sell anything that expensive. I'm sure Vince will enjoy the ride in the Ferrari when the time comes.

@JudyEv Yes, there can be. My friend only works on cars and sells them. His wife is a truckdriver and earns a week by week paycheck. Is the Jag in good working order?

@DaddyEvil Yes, it's our day-to-day car. We have a motor-home too as you probably know.

There is good money to be made for some of these models. We have a Jag but it isn't worth a lot. We swapped a 4-year-old Kia Cerato for it. The Cerato is just a modern-day runaround vehicle - very nice but nothing special about it.

There are two cars in the photos that I like a lot, the E-Type Jaguar and the 1929 Packard.I never liked Ferrari cars. The step father of my husband had one and I also never wanted to be taken for a drive, he used to drive too fast and I did not feel safe at all.

I think one day Vince will be given a ride in the Ferrari. Some men feel they have to drive fast in these types of cars.

@JudyEv The step father of my husband always used to drive his cars too fast, even his small Mini Morris. He had plenty of accidents.

@LadyDuck There are some people that I hate driving with. I don't feel safe with them.

That must do Vince a lot of good to have a look at someone puttering around and the old aerial photo plane would be neat for him too.

He did enjoy his visit. It's amazing what people have in their sheds. The man at Lazeaway where we stayed with the motor-home had a similar collection of bits and pieces although not as valuable as these.

From the road all you can see is an abandoned plane and a big shed or two. It's amazing what it was all hiding.

Interesting what you find when you start chatting to people! I don't think the plans is a Ferrari though?

Wow, awesome! The story behind the 308 GT Ferrari is super cool, especially the camera hole. Driving it sounds like a blast! What an amazing collection you’ve got there

I gave the plane the wrong name, not that it matters too much. I've fixed it now. It's not our collection but belongs to a man that Vince met.

He must be quite the handy man with a wrench to be able to work on so many projects, so diverse as well. I'm sure that Vince will enjoy visiting again and getting a ride in the car.

He is an aircraft technician so I guess he must know what he's doing. He'd be as happy as a sandboy working on his cars.
