Four girls who paddle boarded to the island from Black Beach in Silver Bay Minnesota on Sunday August 17after a lost set of paddies caused them to wind up being stranded in the island.
The age range of the four girls was 14, 13, 10 and 8 caused their parents to call for help from the Lake County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) around Saturday evening after 8pm.
Since it was hard for the deputies to rescue the kids due to bad weather conditions, the LCSO called the United States Coast Guard (USCG) who sent a helicopter from Traverse City Michigan to rescue the girls.
The deputies with the LCSO sent a rope relay to the girls with food and blankets until the helicopter arrived at the island around 1am on Sunday to take the girls back to Silver Bay to reunite with their parents.
I am sure that the girls will learn a lesson to have an adult supervising them when they get on paddles in the future.

@Deepizzaguy yes, that is true. I mean why their parents allow them to do that in bad weather

It sounds like a dangerous trip for young kids. Glad it ended OK.

That is true. It is better to have adults leading the kids in boats in the water.

I'm surprised the younger ones were allowed to do this. I'm glad they were rescued.

Perhaps, their parents were not aware they sneaked out to paddle board. Yes, let's hope they learnt a lesson from their mishap.
