Somebody’s getting married.

I’m rather pleased with this begonia that I have grown.
What isn’t pleasing me today is that the front pages of the newspapers are swooning and blethering about some swiftly woman getting engaged to be married. I think she’s some sort of popular singer.
So what? Is that what interests people? Maybe it is. The papers seem to think that’s the kind of froth their readers need/want to read about.
It’s most interesting to her family I’m sure, and her friends, but why would anyone else need to be dragged in? It’s depressing. I wish the girl a long and happy marriage, but I don’t need to know anything about it.
What does pique my interest is that I have just received a call from the owner of the cottage we’ll be staying in near Clonakilty next week. It’s in the middle of nowhere so he gave me directions in his West Cork accent that involved “the road after the one you’ve just passed” three pine trees and two holy wells. We might find it.

If it is a first time anyone coming to our house then the directions I give them are difficult to follow but once done the next visit will be smooth with no hassles
Mine will be all roads - first main, thrid cross next to this and next to that but no pine trees.

I would much rather see the swooning newly engaged women than the killing of children in our schools plastered all over the front page.

Seems their PR team is really working hard. Why such publicity!
Anyway, I hope you have found the location..

Good luck with finding the cottage, those directions sound interesting.
Well, I sit with newspaper every morning with my tea. And it's a great disappointment that many pages are full of gossips and irrelevant news. Seems like that is what is selling these days in the name of headlines.

Once in Ireland, we were told, 'when you get to the crossroads you've gone too far'. Gotta love the Irish.

I think that as women our interests in life change over the years.I remember that I used to buy celebrity magazines to find out about weddings, divorces, and pregnancies.Technology also brings you a lot of easy information and it no longer attracts you.On the other hand, in our past, when a celebrity did something, it was a sensation, since the times before were not like today. Anyone is famous and you don't even know him. So I'm 41 years old and those things no longer have any appeal for me and as a girl said below I don't even know the current singers and I think that happens to all of us, it also happened to our mothers.

I hope you find the cottage without an issue. Taylor Swift is a very popular singer here; and she's been known to have quite a few boyfriends. The fact that she's marrying one is big news for the Swifties. I'm not one.
