Silent walking is a new trend. I had never heard of it until my grandson in law told me about it. He is a Doctor and he said silent walking is good for your health. Silent walking is going for a walk without your cell phone or head phones. You just go for a walk and listen to the world around you. I do that all the time. I never take my cell phone with me and I go by the river to look and hear the wild animals there.

I always carry my cellphone but it stays in my pocket and is only there for emergencies. I could fall and get hurt or Pretty could fall or a car could hit someone.

@DaddyEvil My husband did fall a couple years ago in the middle of the street. Right in front of our house. The lady across the street is a nurse and she came out and helped me get him up. He had to have an operation on his leg. I would never want to go through that again.

@jstory07 It's also true that you or your hubby could fall, too.
Thank you. I hope you're always safe, too.

That sounds good. I would feel vulnerable if I didn't have my phone with me. A couple of times if I am just out for a brief time though, I leave it here.

Just now
I much prefer that kind of walk when I’m walking outside. For me, the iPod is only for walking that boring track inside. While walking outside, I love to listen to the birds or the wind blowing the leaves around.

It seems strange that walking without headphones, etc, should suddenly be a 'thing'.

I even feel it is better to walk alone rather than have company as each will have their own pace

In this day and age I wouldn't go anywhere without my phone, I figure if something happened like maybe I'd fall or something at least I could call 911 or something. But I'm not on my cell often, usually it's used to take pictures or check the weather

I take my phone because I have a walking app that earns me a little bit.

That's the way walks should be; but with the cell phone in the pocket for emergencies.

Oh! That's how I have mostly walked so many years. Didn't know that it had such a fancy name. My phone stays in my pocket and I don't care unless there is something urgent to be picked. Yes, I do enjoy walking with good company and have nice chit chat too. Even that lifts my mood and is healthy.
