You can tell my mother is not herself today

Yes, it is another post about my dad. Feel free to skip it. I know I've written a lot about him. Today is the anniversary of my dad's accident. He was swimming in the rough ocean and a wave slammed him head-first into the seafloor. It severed his spinal cord and broke 4 vertebrae in his neck. I wasn't there to see it happen or the rescue efforts which I suppose was a blessing. He passed away the next day after life support was removed. Those who read my posts regularly know that my mother and I have a very difficult relationship. We aren't close by any means and it has been that way all of my life. I've learned to just accept it. Anyway I texted her early this morning to let her know that I was thinking of her today. A couple of hours later she replied "Thank you sweetheart". Um SWEETHEART. She has never called me that in my life. I even showed the message to my work BFF and she about fell off of her chair. So it is clear that she is not herself today.
